Embarassed
Yes I must admit that I didn't look at his sight, but I have now.

I updated the software to version 2.60 and loaded all the POI's.
When I took the i3 for its first test run this weekend, it jammed up once due to lack of signal, but I hope that has been fixed with the update..

I didn't realise that you could upload a specific jpg icon for each POI. I was thinking about taking a look at doing the speed (sorry - safety) cameras in the same way that TT do it. The camera shows on the map as a little mph icon.

My faith in the new toy has now been fully restored.

Sorry for the waste of time, I am sure you guys get asked the same things over & over each time someone buys one !

Ok,

Now its back to the stupid questions...

Garmins website doesn't seem to have 2.5 anymore, and all websites I can find have links pointing back there, so I am stuffed, unless some kind soul knows where I can get one ?

Maplin's still have the 2.5 software on their site. Just click on the i3 More Info and scroll down a bit for the link.

Hi There,

Got mine last week - Upgraded it to 2.6 and it crashed when searching for POI's. Looks like a problem in that version.

Ah Well

As others have said, are you outside? The initial fix takes longer (but expect 10 minutes at the most!), so make sure you are outside with a clear view of the sky, especially to the south, and as far as you can get from any buildings. If you can, set it down on a table (or about the same height off the ground) and move a short distance away from it so your body is not shielding the inbuilt antenna.

Once you've got the initial fix, next time should be OK. If the above doesn't work, you've got a duff unit, or the batteries are running out.

Jeff.

If your windscreen has heat reflecting glass, you might need an external ariel.

Just got this unit to work inside whilst being stuck to the window, took it to the car and it still seemed to be working put in a known postcode to test and it found the results very quickly, really impressed! Started driving and it directed me correctly, then suddenly announced that it had lost the satellite! So kept driving hoping it would find it but no, 15 mins later in a layby it found it and im off again. Is this normal? Im not sure if I could stand that especially in rush hour!
