Have been using the Android app for a couple of years now with no problems.....now it crashes on launch.
I have un / re-installed the app and even done a complete factory reset and format of my SD card but the problem continues.
Could it be a recent Android update ?
Phone is Moto G 2nd gen running Android 6.0
I have already raised a support ticket and sent crash logs in
Am I the only one with this problem ??? |

Have you moved it to the SD card? If so then move it back to internal storage and it will work.

I have, I did, and no it still doesn't work .... but the latest version of Android treats the SD card as internal storage anyway |

An SD card used as 'internal storage' in Marshmallow and later is still technically different from actual internal storage. It's been known to cause problems and I've seen it first hand on the HTC 10 in Marshmallow. Even with the SD Card formatted as internal storage, the app simply refused to load. Moved back to actual internal storage and it was fine.
But if you've tried that then I'm a bit stuck for what to suggest :/
Actually, is it on 6.0 or 6.0.1? I'm sure a while back we had issues on some devices running 6.0 but these were resolved once 6.0.1 was released for those devices. |

Has moving it to the proper internal storage fixed the issue on the Marshmallow tablet? |

I have similar issue with a Vodafone Smart Ultra 6 android phone. Cameralert had been working perfectly on it for over a year until recently when I updated it to Marshmallow 6.0.1. The app now crashes on launch every time and reinstalling it hasn't solved it.
Although the phone has provision for an SD card I have never installed one, so I assume (I'm not very tech savvy) that the app must be installed in "proper" internal storage.
Any thoughts on a solution please? |

I've heard of other apps with 6.0.1 issues.
Not spotted what the actual reason or fix is though. _________________ DashCam:

I'm no expert, but was involved in developing a Movie download app for Android devices... The biggest issue we had was device type vs OS version and the icing on the cake was any manufacturer UI overlay tweaks applied to the OS which wreaked havoc on random builds of our app.
Also certain manufacturers devices were more prone to issues than others... Sony and Blackberry being particular pains in the .... on so many levels.
I'm an iPhone user and I was astounded by the lack of consistency across the OS version point releases.
We had to restrict the specified OS version build for our app for release to ensure it worked at launch!
You guys have identified here that a point upgrade of OS is problematic and this does need to be kept in mind when an app stops working as expected after doing an innocuous OS point upgrade!
All the best... |

A few phones had issues with the app when running 6.0.1 however after the 6.1 update it was all working again.
I'm not sure we ever goto to the bottom of it though :/ |

Lately I find that CamerAlert crashes with monotonous regularity, I think it's getting to the point of being unusable. I suspect that iOS gets the development money and Android is the poor relation. Sad as I've been a user for too many years to remember now but I see an end coming soon. |

You suspect wrong.
What device are you using and are you submitting the crash logs?
