Skobbler has revealed that both their iPhone nav apps, the ad-supported Skobbler Lite and the ad-free Skobbler Premium are to be discontinued.

Instead, Skobbler plan to replace both apps with the soon to be announced 'Navigation 2' with a range of new features including the ability to store map data onboard. Skobbler will continue to use OpenStreetmap data.

Existing customers of both apps are being offered a free upgrade to the new app on release but users of the 'Lite' version are advised that they must download the Premium version (currently available free of charge) in order to be eligible for the free upgrade to Navigation 2.

Skobbler Premium is available in the iTunes Appstore here.

It uses OpenStreetMap so some areas will have roads missing etc.

Easiest way to use our database is to have CamerAlert running in the background (unless you have a 3G then it can't run in background, it needs 3GS or 4 for that)

that's correct.

Sygic can use our database from within their actual satnav app though.

Other than that it is a case of running CamerAlert alongside any navigation option you choose.

In Android we are able to overlay a big speed sign over the top of any app that is running but iOS does not allow for this so it is audio only if the app is in the background along with optional repeat alerts of you are remain over the speed limit.
