Do you guys have a plan for when new devices will be added? I've just been given a 9800 to play with for the weekend and would have been nice to test it for navigation which would have been great given the bigger screen I think.
As this is a possible new device for my company to deploy it would be good to know if/when you plan to add support for it. |

Well I thought I would try installing a version for another BB on the 9800 and it works. Installing the version for the 9700 was the key. I used the activation code for my 8900 and plotted a route from home to work. Will try it for real in the morning.
N.B. It works in portrait mode. Turn the device and of course Telmap doesn't handle the change in screen dimension which I hope a 'proper' 9800 version would do. |

Hi Syborg,
Nice going getting the 9700 version to work on the 9800.
Of course it's not part of the design - and a pleasant fluke :-)
We are of course working on a certified version for the 9800 that will fully support all the features of the device including Touch interface and landscape mode.
Unfortunately I can't disclose any delivery dates. Even if I did know the date - these schedules can be very fluid until right before delivery as priorities shift all the time.
As a new device then we will of course support OS6.
thanks

Just to confirm. I did try it for navigation and it worked fine. It was of course working on OS6 with a version for OS5 which again was nice (and must be a relief for the developers that a complete re-write isn't needed). So for those with a 9800 it does look like you have a usable (if non-ideal) way to navigate until the 'pucker' version is released.
I've had to give the 9800 back now so I am again running with an 8900. |

Hi SyBorg,
I am really glad to hear that you got Telmap working on the 9800. I am getting one tomorrow (fingers crossed) and I would definetely give it a go - subject to receiving a new activation code of course - cant find it anywhere. |
