|
|
Good afternoon,
Can anyone advise on this.
When i create a text to speak warning on a tomtom go 720 with the latest map 8.300 where does the file get stored?
Jus that I've upgraded to the latest maps and lost the settings. I have a full backup and was wondering if I could get the files and put them back on to save having to retype the lot.
Thanks _________________ Richard

I think but am not 100% sure that the created sounds get stored in a folder called 'customsounds' (no quotes) or 'customvoices' or something like that. _________________ David |

Nah.. It's in MapSettings.cfg
Type a warning message for a POI then open MapSettings.cfg with notepad. In amongst all the garbage you should find your text near the end. |

I've got a "customvoice" folder.
I *think* that's where any recordings you make of your grandchildren go if you replace any of the navigation instructions.
I haven't got any grandchildren, so mine's empty ![Wink](modules/Forums/images/smiles/icon_wink.gif) |

apparently you can use other people's grandchildren but you need to delete one and re-register the other with tt home... :S
on a more serious note, is the mapsettings.cfg exchangeable between software / map versions? i've just upgraded my software to 8.3 and aps to 8.15 and obviously lost all that lot... however, if i manage to find a backup from previous version will that still work?! (i know i should know, but i'm still a garmin man at heart!)

Should be OK if you were on v8 previously. _________________ Darren Griffin |
