Just wondering if anybody has any experience of ordering from Holux UK. The reason I ask is I ordered a 2210 GPS bundle from them late on Sunday 26th. I got a confirmation mail from them on the Monday saying the order had been received and would be despatched within 2 days. However I have yet to receive anything, and an email I sent them on Thursday asking the status of the order has gone unanswered, this doesn't bode particularly well to me.
Looks like I should have bought it from Global Positioning Systems...just didn't fancy the Arkon mount that has a rep for falling off the windscreen and was a shade dearer... |

I wouldn't be too quick to blame this on them. Most retailers use Royal Mail. Either Recorded Delivery (requesting a signature) or Special Delivery. I'm waiting for several products to be shipped from London and up North, and it only dawned on me today about the postal strike.
Watching a BBC news item last night they said up to 20% of all mail goes through London's largest sorting office for the UK. It doesn't even have to have it's departure in London or destination as London, it will still go through London, and that's where one of the big postal strikes is at the moment.
Call Holux and check that it was despatched, but I suspect this may be the reason why you haven't received it. I have 3 products waiting to be received from different GPS companies, and none of them have arrived. |

I have used Holux UK once to order a serial cable to link my Road Angel to my IPAQ. The order took about 5 days to arrive |

Cheers for the comments.
It wasn't so much the fact I hadn't received anything yet (I realised the strike could affect things), it was more the lack of any response to my email that concerned me somewhat, especially as when the order was placed their system said I would get an acknowledgement (I did), then another mail when the items were despatched, including a tracking number, (nothing as of yet). Unfortunately due to the nature of my work, I spend my time either driving or working at a customers premises, so email is the most convenient way for me to progress things like this.
As Dave has suggested, it looks like I will have to give them a ring next week to find out what has happened. |

Update.
Holux rang me a short while a go, as the courier (Citylink, I believe she said), has been in touch with them to say they have tried to deliver 4 times....
So it would appear (I didn't ask this, kicks himself in hindsight), that the goods were despatched in good time, but that the email confirmation of this did not happen. The courier has never left me a card, assuming they have been trying to deliver to my address, which I checked with Holux and was all correct at their end also.
So it looks as though there was no problem with Holux's service, apart from a lack of response to my email and no despatch email. The bulk of the problem seems to be the courier company, they have never bothered to leave a card so I had no idea they were trying to deliver...only too happy to go and collect it from them...
Just wanted to clarify things. |

With all the couriers I get turning up delivering gear I get this a lot now when I'm not around. It's real annoying, I think most of the time it's the couriers with the digital pads that don't have the whilst you were out cards. I've had this with Citylink, DHL and FedEx. I'm starting to get very impressed with Parcel Force, as they've been knocking on the door at 7am to deliver a package when I haven't been around for a few days, which is bloody good service. |

Not wanting to offer excuses for Holux or any other retailer, but using my personal experience I get somewhere in the region of 300-500 emails a day. Most of these promising to enhance my natural attributes, or porn of these less than 10% are genuine emails.
It can often be very easy when sifting through the spam to delete genuine emails. It has happened to me on a couple of occasions. When you run an online business you are inundated with spam and this can make the efficient responding to emails problematical to say the least. _________________ Mike Barrett |

To be fair to Holux, though they didn't respond via email, as you suggest spam can hinder this process, though a good spam filter can resolve that problem pretty quick, they were helpful on the phone.
My entire problem was caused by the courier company, City Link . They tried to deliver on one occasion when I was late back from work, fair enough. They then claimed to have tried on Saturday, though I was there all day...At this point they got in touch with Holux to say they had 4 (learn to count) failed delivery attempts, Holux gave them my mobile number to re-arrange. They didn't bother, just tried to deliver the following Tuesday when I was at work. Never on any of the three failed attempts did they leave any indication they had been, if it hadn't been for Holux ringing me on Monday I would have been oblivious to the whole situation.
So I got the details from Holux and went and collected it from City Link myself. Apart from the courier shambles I'm happy, the pda was ready to go, Holux had pre-installed Tomtom and maps etc, so pretty much just plugged the bits and pieces in and away it went, didn't need to wait till I got home to connect up to my pc...
My only problem now is it appears my Citroen C5 has one of those reflective windscreen's cos the signal locks frequently drop, sometimes not locking back on for ages, pop the gps out the window and stick it to door pillar, bang it locks onto 5+ sats. |

Courier companies can be so dumb. As soon as I find out they've failed on deliverying I always go to collect it, as they always go to deliver another time at the wrong time. |

Have to say, one of the most helpful companies I've ever dealt with. I do live nearby though so managed to collect my TT2 kit. |

Hi
In my dealings with Holux i have to say they are one of the best companies i have ever dealt with,i bought a supermouse gps off of ebay some months ago on arrival it was dead so i called tech support who ran through a few checks confirming it was dead,i then sent them the faulty part and received a new on warranty in a total of three days. |

I found them a very good company to deal with - over the telephone - but rather tardy replying to emails. I bought an iPaq 2210/GPS receiver/TTN2/cradle/cables bundle from them at a VERY good price compared with other sources, and it arrived by courier the following day. I had a few initial enquiries which were dealt with efficiently.
I was not too pleased with the plug which went into the COM1 port - it did not release easily. I spoke to them on the phone and they sent me a replacement the next day. I would certainly deal with them again, and when I buy the Europe maps next year I will certainly go back to them
