I cannot get my Haicom HI-303e CF card to work with TT5.
I hope a solution will present itself soon otherwise I'm going back to TT3. |

itn is strange since the tt5 recognises haicom GPS CF, and it gets satellites, the problem i have is that it does not get enough signal, so still have not been able to use the soft tt5 |

Well it's getting a lot stranger.
I did a hard reset and reinstalled TT3.07, which has always worked before.
But even that doesn't work anymore, the GPS seems to be recognized but the light doesn't come on.
Looks like TT5 killed my GPS... |

I have been using TT5 for a few days now (I've tried it with both my HI-303MMF (in CF and BT mode) and HI-204E). So far without any problems.
Strange though: Today I noticed a statement on TomTom's website ( http://www.tomtom.com/shop/upgrade.php?action=pda&TT=b4892ea646429234349d78a76b4aec59 ) claiming that Navigator 5 isn't compatible with any Fujitsu-Siemens models (they are working on a solution towards autumn 2005) (!)
I guess I'm just lucky then...?

I've been using TT5 for a few days now with my Haicom GPS CF and mostly made it work.
I have to do a soft reset each time I insert the CF or the configure utility doesn't recognise that there is a CF card to use, i then select Other Cable NMEA GPS, set the baud rate of 4800 and make sure the red/yellow circle is spinning with UTC data.
It can take anywhere from 30 seconds to 45 minutes to get a lock, seems way too slow compared to TT3 which worked a treat every time.
I've started taking a map with me in the car as I can't rely on TT5 like I could with 3, but the postcode search is so useful I'm not sure I can go back to 3... |

I have had the same problems. When you configure for the Haicom card (303) what do say that the gps is connected to? The list I get is:
USB cable
Serial Cable on SP2
COM3
Native IR
Serial Cable on COM 1
Bluetooth Serial Port
Bluetooth Serial Port
I have an ipaq 2410
Cheers! |

A soft reset may work. It does with my 303E - the CF card option will appear. |

My Haicom CF gps does work, but it can take a while to get a fix. Does anyone know if it is better with the 303iii card?
A friend of mine just got a sirf iii bluetooth GPS, which was really impressive (got a good fix in the middle of the office about 10m from the window!!!) so I am looking for a sirf iii gps next, but a little bit concerned about going for a CF one......... |

hi there.
just bought new pda (2110) and tomtom 5 plus a new haicom 302 cf card.
all cause my old kit was stolen. Expensive mistake!
once its got a fix its great (well not too bad- 4-6 sats at best) Trouble is like a lot of people i think is that it can take 5-10 minutes to get a fix. Too long! Weird thing is that using gps info program, its about 1-2 minutes to get a fix. Things improve with the external aierial but not greatly.
Anyone managed to get to the bottom of these problems?
am thinking of just spending out for a bluetooth or wired reciever. Anyone recomend a bluetooth that aquires a fix quickly?
cheers guys |

See posts elswhere but I have TT5 and 305III CF working in my iPaq 3660 PC2002. It's rock solid and doesn't require any fiddling with to get it working.
With regards to the soft reset if you remove then replace the GPS card. Don't forget that unless you specifically exit the application (or stop it from the Running Programs option) it still resides in memory even when the handheld is turned "off" and gets a bit upset if it's environment changes. This is especially true if you leave it out of the system over midnight as the operating system wakes up your unit for a short time for housekeeping.
Anyway it's an MS operating system - so you need to reboot it from time to time!
