Hi,
Has anyone got a listing of Nemerix chip control codes. I believe they start $PNMRX, followed by the instruction number and its data. I have been able to change the NMEA stream rates OK, but my GPS is consistently giving an offset of approx 50 metres north and 20 metres west (compared with either my Roadangel or my GPS III) - which I guess is the wrong datum setting.
According to the supplied software, it seems the datum is controlled by $PNMRX106 with data of 216 to set WGS 84. However, this is giving this error when I send it, so I am trying to find if there's been an update in the chip datum list, but not the driver software!
Cheers,
Steve.
Thanks for your idea! I am not sure what to try for Nemerix - perhaps NMX or something? However, I think the code is OK, as if I use $PNNMRX108 to set the NMEA data stream iteration rate, this works ok.
I have just tried sending a raw datum setting to the GPS (i.e. USER DATUM, with the WGS84 figures inserted), but I now need to go out into the rain to get a good signal and test it
I cannot find any information on the data commands on the web, the Nemerix website has no information, and I cannot find any updates to their Control Tool Lite that came with the unit, which contains all these codes - I wonder if the chipset has been updated, but shipped with an old software CD.
I shall keep on playing with it, as it is a lovely, small unit that seems to last very well on its rechargeable battery, but all this is no good if it gives the wrong position!
ISP mode is not explained very well, it sound something like in sistem programming or what?!!?
I also opened mine, and saw that there is something like a serial connection available (vcc, gnd, rx, tx) but don't know already if rs232 or ttl.
My bt-gps worked well when i got it from ebay, but after i pushed the factory reset button in nemerix control tool, i have the same problem with offset. it shows now a position 100m north of me , and more worse it doesn't react on changing the datum in nclite tool, the positions just stays the same.
I think I'll write to the nemerix support tomorrow, hope they can help

Hi all. First post 2. 8)
I bought a Nemerix chip GPS receiver on eBay (user aktronix), last week.
Perfect shipment, the package was ok... But...
I had the same problem: an offset on the real position.
Well... I used the Nemerix Control Tool Lite before using GPS receiver on the mobile phone, just to test it. I DID NOT pushed "Factory reset" or "Datum" or "Set NMEA" buttons. When I linked the receiver to the mobile phone, TomTom or Route66 did not work.
There was this "strange" offset. Moreover the altitude was wrong.
Look @ this video:
I contacted the seller, who told me that this was the first case of malfunction. I contacted Nemerix support too, but there was no reply.
Annoyed of this, today I mounted my notebook in the car and started a test session. Arrived in an open space place, I opened the Nemerix Control Tool Lite and sent the "Factory Reset" code to the GPS receiver;
then rebooted it. After 2 or 3 minutes, the GPS fixed 8 satellites (and that was "normal": it fixed a lot of satellites even if the track was wrong).
Even if the altitude was wrong again, I tried opening TomTom... AND...
It seems to work right, now! I can't believe it.
I will repeat a lot of testing sessions... If you can, use the NCTL to reset the GPS with factory settings, and restart it many times...
I think that the factory reset and the first boot after it must be done in a very open space... Try doing so...
