Sorry if I'm repeating known problems but I've only just found this forum and did not find anything on the problems I'm experiencing with the new software. I recently returned from a holiday in Northern France and used my Navman ICN 630 with its recently upgraded software and maps to help me find some camp sites I had selected.

Unfortunately, I found the new software a nightmare as it repeatedly wanted to take me on unnecessary wild detours. When I ignored the opportunity the unit would recalculate and invite me to take the next possible turn which may be a farm track or single track road. I found I could only now use it as a guide and realised would have to plan my route with maps to play safe.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Always had the same problem with V2 in europe and usually ignore most of the instructions given. I find it only useful for telling me where i am at any time, which isn't really what a gps routing program should be about. I now plan my trips on paper maps (or autoroute). I've had the dreaded "perform legal u-turn" (i thought they got rid of that), being routed down dirt tracks, dead ends, roads that don't exist - you name it.
I remember some of these problems with V1 but V2 is in another league.
maybe it's the change to teleatlas maps ?
can anyone using v3 give any assurances that the program actaully routes with some degree of accuracy ?.
I will be upgrading soon but need to be sure that i can trust the routes given - take it from me that travelling abroad late at night with little confidence in the routing given ain't a good feeling.

Interestingly, we used the 630 when on holiday this summer with V2 and it performed no different to over here - routes were ok. Biggest problem was getting the maps onto the available memory - which ended up being 3 memory sticks.

Didn't spend much time i France, mostly through Germany and Austria and all points between. Can't remember having a perform a U turn instruction!
