Hi,
I am using Memory Map OS 2004, I have just come back from a weekend in Derbyshire and found it excellent using the 1:25000 map, but it is pricey.
You do need an external battery pack if you are going to walk all day with the Mio running. Also have to be careful with the backlight and power settings, as otherwise it runs through batteries rather fast.
I have no experience of the Fugawi maps though.
(They sound a bit like the well known African pigmy tribe who inhabit a region of long grass!!)
Hope this helps _________________ Leigh

Hi
I bought the Fugawi UK maps with my Mio 168. So far I am very pleased the sections of maps waypoints etc are easy to select and download into the Mio perfectly. Wish I had road names but as I bought Tom Tom Nav 3 as well I get all the road names there. The geocaching also works well on the Fugawi

Thanks for the input. If both maps are pretty much the same i think i will go for the Fugawi maps as it will save me a bit of cash. Leigh you mention a external battery pack for the Mio where did you get it? |

Hi,
I got thr external battery pack from pcmobile, links on this site.
Parts I ordered were
Code DCV35 Adapter jack for Viewsonic/Mio and
Code PB4A Battery Extender (this holds 4 AA batteries and
they recommend 1500 Mah or higher to give about 5V) This will give the
equivalent of 3 full charges of the Mio internal battery.
Total cost inc P&P £11-95
This works quite well, you need to make sure you change the backlight settings so that it switches off on AC power after a minute, otherwise even a fully charged pack will only give a few hours use with GPS _________________ Leigh
