Contacted PDAMods about patch version 3.0.75_91, since this apparently supports setting a distance prior to the POI (i.e. speed camera) from the GUI, they're telling me Destinator has 'closed down and gone into liquidation' - since Destinator is not the company, I don't know if this is right. Anyone got info on this ? Pretty annoyed if this is right, since I bought the software expecting continued improvements over time, not immediate liquidation ! |

Their European and US websites, as well as that of the parent (HSTC) are still up with no indication that anything is wrong. |

Guys,
I think it would be a good idea to hold off on purchasing any Destinator product...I emailed them a while ago with a question regarding a bug with their software. Never received a response and completely forgot about it. A few days ago a remebered and asked them again plus if they are still in business. No answer again...I know they are very ignorant and have bad customer service but they always responded to me...I'm glad I didn't purchase anything from them. I only had a 30 day trial and it was enough.
Take care,
Alessio :D |

I am not in a position to check any of this, but I think the confusion has crept in because of Kane.
Unless I'm misremembering, Kane Car Pilot was rebranded Destinator. It appears from some forum posts that Kane may have gone into liquidation, though there's also a hint that the Kane name has been bought by someone else.
I've seen no suggestion of the company that developed Destinator having gone into liquidation other than this thread.
If this matters to you, please check before spending any money - as I said, I have no way of checking this information that isn't open to other forum members, and this post is not the official Pocket GPS World view on the awkward subject.
If my impression about Kane is incorrect, my apologies to Kane in advance.
