Does anyone have experience of the France (especially Brittany), Spain and Portugal maps? How good is the coverage? I'm thinking about taking a vacation in one of those countries (don't know exactly where yet), and was going to take my TomTom with me. _________________ Geraint

Geraint
I used the maps of France and Switzerland last year with a motorhome, stopping off a various sites both ways and found it excellent for guiding me to exact locations of camp sites. Only slight niggle is having to change maps at borders, or using major roads of europe, but this did not give me enough detail to find site locations.

Hi,
Sorry to butt in - I've been looking for the France maps for my TT Nav3 on my XDA2 but am not sure which one to buy.
The Tomtom website lists France for about E169 but then I've seen on other sites something called TomTom Maps Of Western Europe for about £100 (which Includes all the maps of 15 European countries in one 9 CDROM add-on package)
Any information greatfully received!
Thanks
Simon |

Yopu will most likely find the first one is TomTom Navigator for France (ie software and the maps). The later one is just all the maps on CD (no software).
If you already have TomTom Navigator software, just get the maps! Cheapest place I have found was Amazon if you can live with their long deleivery time. _________________ iPAQ 2110

Ah! - that makes a bit more sense!
I've already got the software with the GB maps - so I guess I can get this other maps only.
Is this what you meant:

Sorry forgot to add...
No idea on the quality of the maps as i have only used my old Garmin eMap abroad. However off to Brittany in May I expect so will find out then! Major roads in France though looked OK to me.
It can find places not listed on the map (MRE), it will just navigate you to a turn off on one of the roads, so GPS and then sign posts would work quite well, though not perhaps by the perfect/ideal route. _________________ iPAQ 2110

Yup, that one will supply all the maps for you. I see their deleivery time has now dropped (was 4 weeks) but with Amazon I would never fully on these times. Some thigns I have had come within a few days when quoted 2 weeks, somrthings that were quoted as 2-3 days took a couple of weeks.
I'd order it a bit in advacne and just cancel it if it's not going to arrive in time. Plenty of palces selling it with 24hr despatch, just cost a little more _________________ iPAQ 2110

Used the maps for Europe in France last summer for 2 weeks and did so without a single problem.
Lost the signal twice but that came back after about 30 secs.
I looked at the major road maps that came with TomTom and I decided that if I wanted to explore off that main roads they werent realy suitable.
A good buy if a bit expensive for a single trip.
Happy holiday |

Just ordered Europe Maps, due next day (Wednesday 26th). Hopefully this will mean Spain and France will become a lot easier than reading Le Michelin Carte! In addition to this, i will compare them to Autoroute 2004 as well.
Will be trialing them in two weeks as the "Management" and I are off house hunting the the South of France. I'lll report back on the accuracy.

Just for everyone's information:
products ordered from Amazon.co.uk on 23rd Jan
Just had an e-mail today (11th Feb) saying
Code: | We are sorry to report that the following item has been delayed.
"TomTom Navigator 3 Maps of Europe"
Our current estimate is that it will take an additional 1-2 weeks to obtain this item for you.
|
I hope this is worth the £10 saving
