I'm looking for a Pocket PC based GPS system with good coverage of Finland, the majority including Navman/TomTom have very limited coverage of just the area around Helsinki
Can anyone recommend one? |

Hello and
Navteq claim to cover an area around Helsinki and major roads in the rest of Finland. Garmin have an online map viewer so you can see what the Navteq coverage is like. CoPilot also uses Navteq maps.
Click on the link for "MapSource Map Viewer" on this page:

Be aware that street mapping programs don't necessarily have the most up to date Navteq/TeleAtlas maps bundled with them. Have a look at the GPS before you buy it if possible to make sure it meets your needs. _________________ Gone fishing! |

Do you own a Pocket PC yet? If not, are you looking for a sleeve, wired or bluetooth GPS receiver? As Skippy says, Garmin are one option and indeed, they've just released V7 of their CitySelect maps of Europe, claiming expanded coverage of Finland as one of the enhancements. _________________ Tim |

The Garmin is better than most in terms of coverage...
I have yet to get a PocketPC....but I was thinking a new VGA capable PocketPC with BlueTooth / Wifi and a CF and SD card slots. And then probably either a CF or Bluetooth receiver....more toward a Bluetooth one.
I have also found a program called: Genimap Navigator Lt Plus (it Finnish)...I only found limited information on it:

CoPilot covers a roughly rectangular area in the South West corner of Finland, approx 140 miles high by 120 miles wide. It also extends about 40 miles to the East of Helsinki along the coast in a corridor which extends 20 to 30 miles inland. The rest of the country is blank.
Where there is a border with Norway and Sweden, in the North West of the country, roads on the Norwegian and Swedish side stop abruptly at the border
