My father has recently bought a Navman 510 in the UK. He's off on holiday to Spain in a couple of weeks and wants to take his new toy. Is the only way to get maps of Europe to pay the 150GBP for the maps for the whole of Europe? Because he only wants to get the maps for the region of Spain he's going to. In the manual, it mentions something about a "silver key" you can buy which unlocks a single region or something, but I can't find any mention of it on the Navman website. I've tried twice to contact Navman themselves via their website, but have not recieved any response, and that was 3 weeks ago. To be honest, I'm not at all impressed with their customer service, the email address I found on the website doesn't work, and there's not even a phone number anywhere (that I can find) to call so that I can actually speak to a real human being! Any help/advice would be appreciated,
Thanks,
James. |

Having read the info on Navman's website, it's possible that they are closed until the 6th of January. However, the information on the iCN 510 maps is here. It appears that there is no region unlock option with the 510.
A few of the advertisers on the right might be able to sell codes, and as the maps are already on the CDs, it could be via email, too. _________________ Tim |

If you click on Tim's link above and then scroll down the Navman page and under the large blue box containing map info you will see where it says ' ----for more info on map coverage CLICK HERE' and if you do just that I think the info there should answer your question.

So looking at that, it seems that there is no way to purchase just one region for the iCN510. The only product listed for the iCN510 is the Pan-European maps and SmartST v3. Its a shame as I've got V3 with the Navman anyway, and that they don't sell just the maps at a cheaper price. Pretty poor all-in-all.
Thanks guys,
James. |
