My new TTG was supplied with an SD card containing UK maps plus software version 4.42
It was also supplied with a CD from which I have loaded the main roads of Europe onto another memory card. But the software version on the CD is only 4.40
Is there any significant difference, and can I copy selected files (if so, which ones) from one card to the other - via hard disk - in order to get the latest version on my new card?
TIA. |

The version differences are listed on the TomTom support site (which also offers the 4.42 update) _________________ Lutz

Unless I'm missing something, it isn't very explicit about 4.42 vs 4.40.
To answer my own question, you *can* simply copy the files and directories from one card to another rather than installing from the CD.
Incidentally, when using a card on which I had installed v4.40 from the CD, I had several instances where TTG froze - i.e. it read the data from the card and then sat there for ever with the TTG hards displayed. It wouldn't respond to the off button, and had to be reset with a paperclip. I haven't had that problem since I copied v4.42 from the other card. Is this a known issue?
Another question . . . According to the manual, when you reset TTG with a paperclip, it returns it to factory defaults. Does anyone know exactly what parameters are reset - 'cos I haven't found any obvious ones so far! |
