|
|
This seems to be a common problem, but when I spoke to the Navman helpdesk they said there was no known problem...anyone else care to comment?
The problem I get:
Downloaded POIs and they work fine and show up on maps.
Set new route - my speedcam icons no longer show up.
Go into settings, maps, POIs and deselect them, then exit. then go back in and reselect them...hey presto they show up on the maps.
Set a new route and they dissappear again!!!
Repeat the cycle and they come and go again!
AAARGHHH.
Ive tried a hard reset - no change.
The POIs are still in there as I get the proximity warnings fine - its just that they don't show up on the maps unless I deselect and then reselect them which is bleedin tedious.
Any suggestions, or anyone else with the same issues? |

I have exactly the same problem and I emailed Navman support yesterday about it. When I get the reply I'll post it here.
I suggest that everyone who has this problem do the same - if enough people do it then they may fix it in a future upgrade or patch. |

Hi all.
I have had this problem.
I have now downloaded the service pack for v3 and the icons are now displaying again in full glory.
There is no mention of an icon 'fix' but they are visible after installation.
Try it...here _________________ Ian.

Okay, I'm just a little confused. First up, how did you find out about this update? I would have thought that all registered users MIGHT have received an email advising them that this was available.
Secondly, the link you posted points to a download called PPC_3_UK20041028 . Is this definately okay for the 510?
Thirdly, if I wanted to check for future packs myself, where would I go cos I don't see anything on the Navman website and under Downloads for the 510 they say that nothing is available.
Oh - fourthly - well done!! |

Hi
In answer to your questions...
On the www.navman-europe.com website homepage you will see 'Navman Service Packs' down the left margin.
This is the link given above. simply visit the website occasionally and click it and you can check for updates.
It would be nice to be notified by e-mail.
Tim did post notification for everyone on the Navman software forum _________________ Ian.

Okay - this as far as it's gotten so far:
I emailed Navman with the problem on Nov 25th and got the following from them on Dec 1:
"Dear Sir
Which 3rd party POI's have you been using?
Many thanks
Ryan"
I replied on Dec 1 with:
"Hi Ryan,
I turned on a couple of the inbuilt POI's and they also appear and disappear at will. Zooming the map out and then back in again seems to be one of the main ways of making them disappear.
Any ideas? (and don't recommend a full or partial reset please, it's been
done already).
Cheers
Simon"
Today, Dec 7th, I get the following:
"Dear Sir
This is because of the map levels and the detail it displays, if you
were to zoom out and it displayed all of its poi's you would not see
anything but them but when you zoom in they start to appear
Many thanks
Ryan"
Well, this is as useful as a chocolate teapot. I emailed a response today:
"Dear Ryan,
I am afraid you are incorrect. When the map is zoomed out, you indeed do not see all the POI's, BUT when you zoom back in (and I have the unit set to autozoom) there are STILL NO POI's. In fact, the POI's are not seen even when the unit is first switched on and is zoomed in to a normal view of a few streets. Please face the fact that there is a bug in the
software!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now, since first writing to you and during the lengthy waits for replies, I
have now downloaded the Service Pack 1 for the iCN510 and this seems to have fixed the problem. However a new problem has cropped up and I would appreciate a reply to it.
Each time a route is completed, the unit used to self-cancel the route. Now
with the Service Pack 1, once a route is completed, the unit still tries to
take you to the destination unless you cancel it manually via the menu. When plotting a new route, you are asked if you wish to cancel the existing one. Of course I click on 'yes' but I never used to have to. These are exactly the routes I have travelled many times before SP1 and each time the unit self-cancelled. Now it doesn't. Obviously this points to a fault with the Service Pack. Is is not USER ERROR.
Can you advise how this can be fixed or will I have to wait for another
service pack or software update?
I await your prompt reply.
Many thanks"
I'm not expecting a quick reply, but I hope it takes my comments a little more seriously. How dumb do these people think we are??? |
