Screen shows only lines and unreadable faded text. Tried changing batteries and doing firmware upgrade. Did not help. Is less than two years old and has been babied. Has anyone experienced this problem? |

I haven't experienced this myself, but I know a few people have had some screen problems (most from damage though).
Fear not! Garmin are a pretty decent company. Which country are you in ? Garmin UK are especially good, so if you contact Garmin Technical Support they'll ask you to send it back and they will repair/replace it for you.
Although it's not guaranteed most people find that several years out of warranty and Garmin still replace the whole unit free of charge. Don't necessarily expect this, but others who have sent they'res back due to damage or a fault that's developed haven't had to pay a penny, so don't delay and give Garmin a call! |

Dave, I took your advice and called Garmin. It took some verbal persuasion but within 10 days of returning my etrex Vista I received a free replacement. Thank you for the great advice! |

I had a very similar problem with my display, mentioned on this previous thread -
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=4005&sid=6e5ec950620b46ea0d87cce749c77aeb
...and also packed my Etrex off to Garmin UK. It was out of warranty, bought off Ebay, and I threw my hands up to them and suggested it was probably caused by the vibration of being strapped to my Honda trail bike all it's life. I fully expected to pay for a repair.
Within a week I received a brand new, free, replacement Etrex. They are nice people. :D |
