|
|
Last year I bought one of these https://dittowearable.com
It is a small plastic pebble shaped BT receiver with an offset motor. Triggered by the iOS Notification Centre or Android equivalent it buzzes away when an alert from one of about sixty apps (Facebook, Gmail, texts, etc etc) arrives
Day to day I wear it on it's wristband but on the motorbike it clips to the neckband of a T shirt
The concept works very effectively and it seems to me a natural adjunct to CA - giving an alert that there is "something" up ahead without the distraction of listening to or looking at a phone's screen
The developers have indicated that they are open to adding other apps to the list and I wonder if the PGPSW team might take a closer look at the idea ...... |

We use persistent notifications as opposed to 'normal' notifications which is why CamerAlert won't work with it. Sorry!

OK - shame
I'm not up to speed on "persistent" notifications. Would having CA "allow notifications" set to ON but the switch for "show in notification centre" to OFF make any difference?
Suspect I'm clutching at a very elusive straw here .....
Someone please bring back that amazing Inforad K1/K2 loaded with the PGPSW database - it just slipped under the rim of your helmet and did the job |

How is a clear and audible notification more distracting that something buzzing away which could be a notification for any one of sixty odd apps? _________________ Galaxy Note 4 / TomTom GO : CamerAlert : CoPilot |

A "buzz" is not quite accurate - it is a noticeable vibration that really does get your attention
From the Ditto app you select the apps you wish to notify you and even the pattern of vibs that signify different (significant?) callers/events etc
You can of course just have the apps you wish running, which is what I do
It just works, and has several "off vehicle" functions that run independently of the smartphone once set up such as timers and alarms |

Oops - just read your initial post again! I was thinking you meant Android and not iOS. Android uses a different notification system where there's always a notification that says how many cameras are nearby. THis isn't the case in iOS. |

In which case I wonder if management would be interested in talking to Ditto? |

I have had an email from the Ditto people:-
"IT looks like there is a possibility that Camer Alert and Ditto maybe able to work together.
The quickest way to get things started is to have someone from Camer Alert email our product director to start a conversation
If you have someone email Neal Pecchenino at Neal@simplematters.com, they can try to work something out"
Perhaps someone might care to follow this up? |
