|

Hi
I upgraded from a Streetpilot III to a 2610, both had the V5 of Mapsource.
I have always kept the Mapsource up-to-date (via downloads from Garmin site) etc and now the software tell me its version 6
However, I notice on E-bay that people are selling version 6 CD updates for £40-£50....are these updates different??? - Does the CD version 6 have anything extra (ie new base maps??)
Why would you pay £50 when you can download for free??
Confused!! - Thanks |

The downloads from Garmin are only for the shell programme, the CDs are updated maps.
The shell programme may introduce new features, but a GPS is only as good as the maps it uses. _________________ Tim |

Do I need to 'unlock' again?
Thanks. sorry for q's |

The latest Mapsource shell programme is 6.3. The maps for sale on eBay will be, for instance, CitySelect or CityNavigator, with V6 being the latest release.
You will need to unlock again. If the maps don't come with unlock codes then you're wasting your money. You can request the CDs free of charge from Garmin, but unless they are unlocked then they will be of no use to you. Depending on how long ago you unlocked your V5 maps, you may be entitled to a discount. _________________ Tim |
