Download the exe file, then right click it and select Run as administrator. That should work. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

Now downloaded and installed 5.5, however after what it called a successful installation when I try to open it all I get is the initial screen showing the icon and the words Garmin Express, and then it sticks, not going any further!!

What annoys me is the way it tries to force you to uograde to the latest bugged version when you exit a previous version. No cancel button.
I got an email asking for support desk feedback, to which I slated them. Got another one yesterday which I haven't responded to yet. _________________ DashCam:

That's normally an indication that a previous uninstall left some remnants behind, so you could try using the Microsoft Utility to completely uninstall Garmin Express. This software is third-party and not created by Garmin. The software is licensed and created by Microsoft.
https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/17588/fix-problems-that-block-programs-from-being-installed-or-removed
When uninstalling Garmin Express select as necessary:
•Garmin Express
•Garmin Express Tray
•Elevated Installer
•Garmin Update Services (skip if not present)
•ANT Drivers Installer x64
Then install Garmin Express directly from http://download.garmin.com/omt/express/B/GarminExpressInstaller.exe _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

5.6.1 now released, no changelog for the Win version yet, for the mac:
Fixed an issue that could cause a customer to receive a bad response when attempting to update LakeVu Detail Maps.
Other minor bug fixes and improvements. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

Keep us updated on ExpressTray in Win7
Installed it anyway and I have a tray icon.
So, even though they acted dumb to my support request they've hopefully fixed it. _________________ DashCam:

Think it appears when you update, but after a reboot it's gone again ... at least mine is. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

Hello Sussamb
Returned from BSB at Thruxton and removed the old Garmin Express via the Windows Control Panel, and then installed Garmin Express via the link you provided, which of course now gave me the latest version 5.6.1.
I then opened myGarmin and successfully downloaded my subscription item, so whatever the problem was with the earlier version it now seems to have been cleared.
Many thanks
