Not that I can think of.
Find a suitable WAV file then replace all the dozens of current files with it.
There are WAV files available here with and without the 'chimes'. Maybe one of them is suitable for a crop?
I personally find the voice alert better because I don't have to look at the device for the camera speed, or the type for that matter, it tells me, but each to their own. _________________ Satnav:

If you have a smart phone (iPhone or Android) why not use the CamerAlert app to warn?
I use a TomTom SatNav app on my iPhone with the cameras loaded. The SatNav doesn't have warnings for the cameras as CamerAlert does that for me and CamerAlert is customisable.
You could do the same with your Garmin and use silent .wav files and have CamerAlert warn.
Just a thought! _________________ Robert.

Okay here's a weird one that has me stumped ...
I recently reported a speed camera change to a couple of cameras near Bracknell, changing one from 70 and one from 40 both to 50. They now show as 50 in the database, cameras are 172935 and 164704.
Just downloaded the new database. Used the convertor and sent the file to my nuvi. Both show and are announced as 50.
Yet the same file viewed in BaseCamp shows the original speed limits!
I've shut down the PC, deleted then recopied the file, it still shows in BaseCamp incorrectly.
Any thoughts? _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

Very strange.
Presumably the cameras are in the correct gpx/csv file?
If they are then it looks like BaseCamp may be looking elsewhere _________________ Satnav:

Yes, I've checked the gpx/csv files and they both end with #50.
I've just copied the file from my nuvi onto a SD card, taken from my camcorder so untouched by .gpi files in the past, and viewed it with BaseCamp on my laptop, which still shows the cameras ending in #40 and #70 yet the file is correct
I agree BaseCamp must be getting them from somewhere, but where I have no idea. BaseCamp as far as I know can only read them from the attached device or card. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

From my brief encounter with Basecamp it's supposed to read the data directly from the SatNav, so what's on the SatNav in the form of correct speedcams 'should' be showing in Basecamp.
Basecamp must have a cache that is getting in the way.
If my first premise is right then all you can do is remove all cams from the SatNav and see what Basecamp reckons. Cams or not. _________________ Satnav:

Your first premise is correct. However deselect the file and all the speed cams in BaseCamp disappear, select it (the same file on my 2508 that works correctly) and the incorrect ones appear. It simply doesn't make sense
All I can think of is that the same file is displaying differently on the 2508 and BaseCamp. Perhaps there are two entries in the database (if so I've been unable to find them) or the convertor is doing something weird _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

BaseCamp does have various caches, but I'm not sure that they keep any back-copies of device data beyond the current one.
If you want to check, they are at (eg) C/Users/Sussamb/AppData/Local/Garmin/BaseCamp.
Drill down into each (unlikely looking) folder to see what's in it eg for a .gpi file !

Thanks. Had tried that already and also same issue on my laptop that isn't normally used with PGPSW files.
Thought I knew my way around BaseCamp but this has me stumped. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

Clutching at straws .......
If Basecamp thinks a road has a 40mph limit will that override any speedcam that isn't 40mph ? _________________ Satnav:

I suppose the only way of finding that out is to insert a 'dummy' of the wrong speed in a different position on the same road into the raw data, 'compile' it and see what BC makes of it. |

Good idea, and thanks everyone for the suggestions ...
I'm going to wait now and see what happens with the next PGPSW database. If the problem is still there in January I'll have more time to investigate _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |
