Hi, Just got a new Mazda CX-5 and it is fitted with a Tomtom which I think is a NB1 model with live view.
I'm wanting to know if I can download the Pocket GPS World speed camera database onto it.
Anyone out there done this. Thanks |

Sorry for delay in anyone replying...
I don't know that model number, but the rule of thumb is that older TomTom models CAN accept the PGPSW database and the latest models cannot (yet).
One easy way to check is if there is anywhere in any of the menus where you can add or create your own "POI" categories or locations (as opposed to "Favourites").
If you can, then there should be a fairly easy way to load POI files onto it too, and that includes the PGPSW database.. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

From the Getting Started GUIDE, the system uses TomTom HOME and runs from an SD card. It also mentions (without details) POIs, so I'm guessing it will take the database - downloading and installation as per the older TT devices (see our installation guide for the Renault Carminat and where it talks of connecting your device to the PC, read as inserting the SD card into your card reader).
Andy, NB1 is the built in Mazda TomTom thingy. _________________ Dennis

The Mazda NB1 SD card does not have sufficient capacity to take the Pocket GPS World .ov2 speed cam and .ogg speech files. I use a 8GB sdhc card and that is more than adequate. Do not use TomTom HOME. Use Windows Explorer to navigate around the SD card
1. Create a copy of the Mazda SD card.
2. Copy back to the new larger SD card
3. Download the PocketGPS CameraAlert Database TomTom .ov2 files to the new SD card in both the POI folder and Europe folder.
4. Download the PocketGPS .ogg speech files to the Europe folder only.
5. Put the new SD card in the SD card slot on the car dash.
6. When TomTom is fired up go to 'Settings/Warn when near POI' and set your distance warning preferences for each speed category.
7. When updating from the weekly Pocket GPS World CameraAlert Database use Windows Explorer and download the latest .ov2 files to the Europe folder.
8. Only use TomTom HOME to update your Maps or LIVE services.
Works perfectly
