1) Unlike the PND updates which are released each Wednesday, the CamerAlert db's for Android and iPhone are live. When MaFt changes something in the db, you get the change in your next download. So if you download on a Monday morning, then at lunch time and again in the evening, they could all be more up to date than the previous download. I think DennisN has stated previously that he grabs a fresh download every morning before he leaves for work.
2) The latest download deletes the previous download before installing. Not sure if that is overwriting or not. You can confirm this because the *Cameras on Device* goes to zero.
3) No idea. but there may be just as many of us who don't want it as those who do. Given that there are ongoing problems with getting the Apple version to market, I guess that that is taking up the majority of the developers time.

How often does the android app update?, and could they not show the update date.
How big is the update file? does it simply overwrite the existing one?
If you are talking about the PGPSW camera database, it's mostly updated weekly on a Wednesday, but you can download the up to date d/b any time as it reflects the PGPSW data as it is 'now'.
Don't know how big, but not very is the best I can do. And Yes it does overwrite the previous version.
Although I don't have any figures, the download is minimal in size, it happens in 15, 20 seconds max. If any any doubt, head toward the nearest MuckyD's or any other free WiFi spot.
One download suits all. You shall get Europe included within the normal download. All you have to do is change to KMH in settings once you are out of the UK. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

Another problem I'm having is the tracking part of the app, I don't always have a chance to upload individual tracks so have to wait until I have a WiFi, but it all goes up in one file with no dates etc to know when it was done.

am I missing something obvious.
Yes, you have not fully explained what app you are using.
Are you talking about CamerAlert or something else? It sounds to me like something else using the PGPSW database, which is confusingly called CamerAlert as well as the Android/iOS app. You can't load tracks into CamerAlert (the app).
Yes, the whole thread is about cameralert app on Android only, one of the advanced settings is to record track (record GPS positions), this is what I was meaning, I have the box checked to do so,, but it seems to just record one track, no option to give it a name or date etc, nothing in the manual about that I saw, and search brought nothing up either.
Another thing, is that I have had it set up for a while, but it's only recorded a trip I did to Scotland a month or so ago, nothing recent or local, despite it always being turned and a the app in use, when driving.

Sorry. Assumptions sometimes get you into trouble.

The track recorder records your movements while CamerAlert is in operation. As you rightly say, it adds different journeys onto the log to become one big file until you delete it and start again.
The track is recorded as a .gpx file so any text editor should be able to read it.
Beware, speed is measured in m/s. You'll need to find a converter app. (or 1m/s=3.6km/h=2.24mph)
It is possible to look at the time stamps to work out which journey was which. If you want to export a trip I have found that its best to make a back up of the whole file and then delete the various logs not required. This way you keep the headers and footers intact which are required to make sense of the data.
As to why yours is not recording recent journeys. If the box is ticked it should be, perhaps try a reboot of the phone. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599
