|
|
I've just bought a Garmin nuvi 42LM, all works well but I would prefer to use the PocketGPS system than Cyclops, I first saved the Cyclops file to my PC and then deleted it from the Nuvi POI directory leaving it empty, I downloaded and unzipped the current Speed Camera file and with a copy of Liz Whittaker voice alerts loaded it into the Nuvi with the Garmin POI loader, it came back with 14997 POI's successfully loaded, the Nuvi POI directory now shows a poi.gpi file 2,723 KB.
The problem is that no alerts are coming up, either on the screen or by voice. Can anyone please advise me to whats gone wrong?
Thanks

You may need to select them and/or switch Tones on. I don't have your model but in mine its Settings, Proximity Alerts. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

Certainly if sox.exe is missing, I'm not clear what 'Liz Whittakers voice alerts' contains. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

I've looked in Settings / Proximity Points as suggested and 'Custom POI's' is ticked as is 'Garmin Safety Cameras' which I've put back to see what would happen, I've not had time to go out and try it yet.
The Liz Whittaker voice alerts are all mp3 files with a MACOSX directory before they go into the POI loader.. |

.MP3 don't work, you need .WAV files for the latest Garmin units.
There was a small window a while back where MP3's did work but only on units that had a built in music facility. _________________ Satnav:

Thanks guys,
I've got it working, it was the missing sox.exe file which until yesterday I had never heard of.
Thanks again.
