|
|
Hi all,
I've recently aquired Garmin's 24K US Topo West and Southwest, and am in the process of exporting mapsets from MapSource onto an SD card by state (since the sets are so large). I'm using these maps with a Garmin GPSmap 62st.
But, when I try to put multiple mapsets on the card from the 24K series, only a single one is visible in the 'map setup - select map' window where I can enable/disable which topos to display. Even though I've given them a specific name and I know they're on the SD card, they don't show up in the menu where I can see all the other mapsets I've made from the 2008 100K topo.
Any ideas how I can fix this so I can see all the mapsets on the SD card? Thanks so much for the help! |

...or you may have reached a limit on the number of separate .img files that the device will read. Try loading bigger mapsetsand see if that helps.

While there used to be a limit on the number of .img files I don't believe that's true anymore _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

Well I have this problem with my Oregon 450, which is why I mentioned it as a possibility.
The Garmin Oregon 600 Wiki says "IMG: A maximum of 20 maps, not exceeding 4000 map segments in total, will be indexed". (The 600 is a newer model than mine).
The Garmin Oregon 450 Wiki says there's a limit of 4000 segments, but no limit on .img's (using recent software). But in practice I experience a limit of 20 .img's, beyond which any additional ones will not show. The answer is to combine several maps together in one composite .img, and all is well.

Interesting. Garmin don't seem to mention that, just the map tiles. I wonder if folks got confused simply because they exceeded the tile limit and though it was a .img limit they were up against?
I do know I read something a while back against someone running into a problem when they had something like 30 .img files but I assumed they'd probably hit the tile limit.
If you're right and there is a .img limit combining several maps would certainly help. Guess the OP needs to chip in with some more detail on map tile and .img numbers _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |
