Thanks
Unfortunately my Garmin gets boxed up today due to the ongoing SmartLink issue. _________________ Satnav:

Nearly
I'll keep it charged and wait for a firmware update and/or Smartlink update. I'm now switching to CamerAlert on my HTC One (HTC Car Dock installed today).
From the end of next month the M25 is history for me so my built in TMC RDS will be fine. _________________ Satnav:

Thanks for the info - I was using only Western Europe, however this time it only offered me all of Europe, so I downloaded that.
It took a couple of hours, but seems to work satisfactorily using existing "Favourites", and I tried a few links to places in Eastern Europe and they seemed suitable as well.
It will do for now!!
cheers

Whilst I used to have issues with grey screen, etc., particularly if I used the digital traffic lead and my smartlink app - sometimes just the app - since the various updates, I no longer get any problems _________________ TomTom Go Live 6100, 600

Garmin now in the cupboard.
Effectively it was now just a camera device as Smartlink traffic definitely broken for me. I gave it one last go with the new maps but still the same.
Reset everything back to default including uninstalling and reinstalling SmartLink after clearing all data and the cache. Then factory reset the Garmin.
After a few minutes traffic comes in but just grey roadworks. I left it half an hour to see if it would get any more data but no.
According to my Garmin 16:30 on Friday the M25 western section anti-clock was clear apart from a few small sections of roadworks.
Inrix and Google showing it completely blocked (as it was at the time). _________________ Satnav:

|
|
I noticed an extremely hefty download of data to my PC yesterday, with no indication of where it was from.
Today I connected my Nuvi 1410 to the USB cable, and discover from Express that this was the whole of Western Europe 2015.20 maps download, all 2.9 GB of it! (I thought I'd turned off all the Garmin stuff in Startup...)
I can't find a way of using Express to install JUST the UK and Ireland maps, whose older version is currently installed. It seems to want to install the whole thing.
What can I do, please? Thanks. |

This is a quirk/bug of Express. If there's space you need to download the full map, only after that can you change regions.
You can fool Express by loading some files to your 1410 to fill up the memory so the map won't fit, maybe some large video files for example.
Or use the original Garmin MapUpdater for PC:
http://download.garmin.com/lmu/GarminMapUpdater.exe
Mac is here:
http://download.garmin.com/lmu/GarminMapUpdater.dmg
Look for the View Options bottom left which gives you the option to change regions. |

Thanks very much indeed! MapUpdater did exactly what I wanted, in about 15 minutes. |

Since updating maps a couple of weekends ago I have lost JunctionViews. I guess everyone else got some as I've seen no similar posts?
I did notice that no new .jcv appeared, tried installing a couple more times, still no .jcv so assumed it might use the previous version. Obviously it does not!
Most of the many updates I've done have gone reasonably smoothly. This time it was not straightforward. GE froze after completing the download - for quite a few hours. Little activity in Task Manager and nothing relating to Garmin apps, no disk activity. I eventually built and installed via Basecamp.
Suppose I am going to have to do it all again this weekend
Routing a bit quirky yesterday too. Frequent trip (A11, A505, A1M) of 80 miles, Satnav showed Faster option as 103 miles, arrival in two and a half hours.
As I drove my preferred route two auto-recalculations dropped the mileage and reduced arrival time by 40 minutes to more usual 1:40.
Coming home Shorter setting gave a more reasonable route.
Strange, not seen anything like that before. |

Funnily enough, at about the time I started having the SmartLink issue I also suffered a GE problem. This also included the GE version that removed all the voice files.
Whilst I was able to re download them I have a feeling that something else happened to one or more files that GE is unable to recover from.
If I could I would like to download and install a complete new factory reset setup using base files and start over but I don't suppose Garmin have this. _________________ Satnav:

Me too.
I do have a backup from when I got the device but not being a Windows user I assumed it would contain everything and not exclude .files! |

@fruit
Installing maps via Basecamp won't install stuff like junction view, which is why you're not seeing them. I'd try again using Express ... worked fine on my nuvis. |
