This is not strictly an A10 issue but arises from the regular use of one.
I have hundreds of walks recorded. I would like to be able to upload many of them as .gpx files to a website where other people interested in walking in the area could see them and, if they wish, download and use them. I do not want to upload to Google Earth or Google Maps as I feel they are too cluttered and too global. I'm also not sure that it can be done and it certainly does not look easy.
Most sites seem to require a subscription or some form of payment for most downloads and I would not want to put my data on such sites. I think it would work on Xpedition as I think anyone can access the basic capabilities just for registering on the site (please correct me if I am wrong). However the site is a Satmap one and I'm not sure how they would react to my encouraging non Satmap users to use it.
I know there are some very experienced GPS users out there who I am sure can provide lots of well informed advice. I look forward to hearing back.
If anything is unclear – just say so.. _________________ LostMike

I use use the www.bikeroutetoaster.com website does exactly what you have described. It is free to register and use, I just let whoever needs to access it know the login name and password. |

Thanks for your suggestion thepot.
Sorry to take so long to reply but I had hoped get a few more responses and to be able to comment on a wider field.
I will certainly consider your suggestion but at the moment, the idea of having to give everyone my login name and password is not one that appeals .. even for information I want to share. _________________ LostMike

Hi LostMike,
I've just started to use an Active 10 and Xpedition (see my other 'newbie' posts!).
My observation is that since Xpedition's base currency is routes in the file form of .gpx, I should imagine it's all the same to the folks that run it whether your routes started off life in a Satmap GPS or any other make. I should think they take the view, 'The More The Merrier' as the more folks visit their site the more popular it gets, the more it get used, etc.etc.
BTW, you can browse the routes I've done so far by looking for the user name 'simonineaston' |

My thanks to AliOnHols and SimoninEaston.
Wikiloc looks interesting but may have a bit too wide a coverage. As for Xpedition, I had not realised or forgotten that you can get a free version. All those hours spent testing it and now can't even remember what the free version offers....
Thanks again. _________________ LostMike

Are your gpx files of walks nationwide or regional? _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

I think I am doing something similar to what you want.
http://satnavramblers.blogspot .com
or search for SatNav Ramblers.
I store my files on OneDrive (free) and put a link to them on my blog. |

Link does not work. The .com has been left off the end. The problem is the space before it. |

Thanks derekd99.
I took out the space and had a look.
Interesting though I had hoped to be able to post .gpx files or similar.
The maps however, are good. _________________ LostMike

You missed the pages at the top. SatNav or similar title lists all the gpx files stored. There are also pdf and Quo files stored. You can store almost any file on OneDrive. Try the different links on the blog.
http://satnavramblers.blogspot.com
also
http://ramblerstoo.blogspot.com
The two things needed are an account at OneDrive and a blog account from Blogger.
