Hi Guys
My trusty old 530 has died just before I need to make some journeys, so I nipped out and bought a Go400 as it looked like a decent replacement unit.
However, I didn't realise that the smartphone connected aspect needed to be run via tethering, which is no problem as I have it on my 5s. But does anyone have an idea of data usage for say a 200 mile trip?
I was expecting it to be done via location services and push notifications rather than a constant connection for the traffic and cameras.
Also, how do you change a route to an alternative, on the old style units you could just tap it and get it to reroute but after a quick test in the house that doesn't seem to be the case on the new one.
Thanks in advance |

At this point, it is not possible to select an alternate route on that model. _________________ David |

But the unit will reroute if I make a conscious deviation from the route?
I've planned a journey and the unit has opted for as much motorway as possible which means an extra 11 miles on the route over an A road link onto the motorway I know which at the time of morning I'm expecting to travel will be pretty much empty. |

Yes it will.
But the lack of a proper "Calculate alternative" is a pain sometimes. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

You're dead right, I used it yesterday in Anger for the first time and it was a real pain when i took my own own route constantly telling me to turn around or off the route I knew I wanted.
Also noticed that the distance remaining on the top right of the screen was well off during times of taking my own route, one such example was me passing a sign saying 47 miles to Chester, but the satnav saying 83! It wasn't until the satnav had no alternative to my route that it gave up and recalculated properly.
Quite annoying!
And the tom-tom speed camera system is total pants compared to the PGPSW system I'd been using happily since ipaq days!
I wish I'd read up on the changes and not just expected the same functionality of my old 530, 3rd party POI needs to be added ASAP |
