Hi, all

Not sure where the best place is to post this.

I have a 2007 Audi A4 with the factory-fit Navigation system called RNS-E. It's a pretty impressive all-rounder except, ironically, for the navigation function. I mean, it's great once a destination is loaded, but the interface for loading the destination is very slow and counter-intuitive. It uses a alpha/numerical dialer knob (no touch-screen) plus it only accepts the first four characters of a postcode.

So I'm thinking of downloading a decent navigation app to my iPhone, and running it alongside CamerAlert. The default option seems to be TomTom (currently £37.99 for Western Europe).

Before I buy, though, I'm interested to see if anyone here has experience of running TomTom (or indeed an alternative) on iPhone in conjunction with CamerAlert.

Any advice or feedback will be appreciated.

Jeff.

Personally on the iPhone I prefer Navigon or Garmin. Navigon (actually owned by Garmin now) always seem to be the first to use new features available to the developers and have a good history of timely updates and new features etc.

You might also like to try Sygic. They have a BOGOF ofer + 30% off at the moment. They also d a week's free trial. Some have had problems with it (with POIs), by in my experience it's OK and itakes the PGPSW cameras as well.

Thanks. I'll look into both suggestions.

Tomtom works well and their HD traffic is brilliant, in my opinion.
Also the traffic is half price at the moment

OK, well I've given Sygic a go, at £23.99. Initial impressions very favourable (once I'd figured out the right settings).

The maps are downloaded onto your device at installation time (and when updated)so you don't need a data connection whilst driving for the maps, but you do if you buy their traffic add on.

Google Play too but there has been a fall in our scoring due to a lack of reviews of the recent update on iOS.
