I have an IPAQ 2210 and would like to purchase TT BT GPS and navigator 3 but observe that ther are many problems with this setup - lockups and BT dropout - I see that TT3 is now at V3.03 which TT say will cure this problem - any feedback?

It seems to sort things for some and not for others. However, disabling POIs from being displayed (not used just displayed) does seem to overcome the problem for all (?willing to be corrected here?)

HTH?

I think also it has highlighted the need for faster SD cards.

If you have a 2210 the simple answer is to use CF cards for map storage as this resolves all the BT drop-out problems. You can still use SD for all other data.

go ahead - I think you'll be impressed.

I like many others have a 2210 and bt gps and don't suffer any problems at all - it's human nature to post when you have problems not when it's all working ok.

I have my maps on a mixture of sd card - uk and mre - and cf - france - and notice no difference between the 2 - I had hell and all problems with a sandisk ultra sd card (the fast ones) but now stick with an i-o data japan made one - which although normal speed is very fast (= to a panasonic card I also use)

good luck

Ian

I have now purchases Tomtom Bluetooth GPS and Navigator v 3.03 from Global Positioning Systems and have several problems - been in use for 4 days:
No instructions with GPS so assume the following:
Blue flashing - no connection
Blue On - PDA/GPS conection
Green flashing - sat lock
Green off - no sat lock
Red On - Charging
Red Off - fully charged

PDA connects via Bluetooth manager - Blue On GPS but no GPS status on PDA and no connection indication on moving line - can only restore via soft reset - PDA says all connected - this has happened several times!!!

PDA looses GPS link and requires to be set via Bluetooth manager - this has happened several times !!

GPS takes 20 mins to sat lock - happened several times

System is good when working but fails far too often

Have sent above message to Tomtom

Using CF for maps - makes no difference if POI is on or off

Questions
Do I have to connect via BT manager at every switch on - remembers most times and comes up on Navigator on switch on - I have just bee switching off GPS and PDa without exiting navigator but works most of the time? Little instructions with the GPS on operational modes

Regards

Hi Ralph,

The description of the lights seems correct to me.

As for needing to start BT Manager on some occassions, I used to wonder about that, but it seems that if you exit Tom Tom before turning the PDA off it connects automatically everytime once you start Tom Tom again.

I have now completed 1000 ml trip with GPS system (2210 & Tom Tom BT Receiver) - very impressed with results - took us to all destinations without fail sometimes navigating on all day trips - no BT drop outs at all - problems encountered to date are:

Have to set up BT port every time in use to get GPS to communicate

TT3 sometimes hangs after setting up a route and switching from map to navigate - it starts recalculating route again and invariably hangs in this loop - have to soft reset to restart

i have found on occasions that TT3 seems to be running many times in the background. to check this, in the PPC settings menu go to memory, then system and clear the 'running programs' box.

then after TT3 use, choose the 'exit application' option from the TT3 menu. works for, me and picks up the GPS instantly.
