|
|
Dear Reader,
Forgive me if this enquiry has been aired previously.
My nuvi 760T after 'Web-Updater' (i.e. my knowingly replacing its operating software), has been restored to it's factory default. One painful consequence of this was the unexpected total loss of all my 'where to' within the 'Favorites' folder.
However, all is not lost as I also possess a nuvi 765T.
As Garmin understandably use their own progamme/software .indentifiers, I am unable to recognise the appropriate files, i.e. the 'where to' within the 'Favorites', located in the nuvi 765T hard drive.
To enable a copy to computer and thereby facillitate a transfer to my nuvi 760T hard drive of these 'where to' files, may I request a helpful and knowledgeable sole to enlighten me please?
My kind regards,

Favourites are stored in the current.gpx file in the GPX folder. To transfer:
Copy the current.gpx file to your PC
Rename it temp.gpx
Copy it to GPX folder on the other nuvi
Boot that nuvi (what then happens is that the temp.gpx file is merged with the current.gpx file).
Once your favourites are there DELETE temp.gpx
Any queries come back |

Dear Sussamb,
" I don't know who you are or from whence you came" but, as Colonel Blood knock would say, " By gad sir, you've done me a power of good!" (Goon Show).
Have followed your instructions in principle with a successful outcome although being a hoarder, I have retained a copy of the newly created temp.gpx file in my permanent file system within the computer. I assume there will not be an automatic read-over or cross-pollenation the next time I connect my nuvi 760T to the computer's USB?
Apologies for the late response.
My very grateful thanks.

No danger of cross pollenation
Worth though copying current.gpx from your nuvi to your PC every so often, so that you have a back up should you ever need one |
