Thanks all, keep items for the lists coming...
Some particulars

PRO - I quite like the labels that appeared in 8.351
NEG - logging tracks and making a UI for it is my biggest "never had" gripe. | - Added thanks. (By the way, Labels/Markers *are* still there, and on all the newer models too).
mikealder wrote: | Auto power on - Dropped
Custom Menu support - Dropped | - Both on there already! (one on the first list and one on the second)
mikealder wrote: | its a long time since the mains charger has been part of the kit supplied with the device | (And HenryMitchell) - Mains charger issue moved from second list to first
mpwilson99 wrote: | - I use the Disable Zoom feature | - Thanks, added to list 3
Milesey - Multiple selection of files does work (by CTRL or Shift click, or by click and drag, but apparently not on Internet Explorer, only on other browsers like Firefox and Chrome. For some reason, some people in the US are still having problems with it too. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

I just bought a refurbished 550 Live while my 740 Live goes for repair, and it has compass and auto dimming in poor light. At least I think the auto dimming is working, but I'll check it each morning to see what time/light conditions prevail. |

x40 devices have a light sensor and the software uses it to control the backlight/ screen brightness.
x50 devices have a light sensor but it is not used for anything at all, the backlight and day/ night switch is based upon date and location - Mike |

I wish I'd noticed this thread sooner, I've just received an email from TT customer service, they had noticed I have not renewed my Live subscription so they sent out a questionnaire (anyone else received it?).
All the questions are 'pick one answer from several' until the very last where there is a free text box to be used ... it is headed by the question what can we do to improve? If I had seen this thread sooner I would simply have cut and pasted Andy_P's list as the answer to their question ...
Maybe someone else could do it if they receive the questionnaire. |

Has the EPT function (Enhanced Positioning Technology ) been tampered with too.
I generally ignore it as it has always been hit and miss as a function.
I noticed it failed to work when I travelled through Hatfield Tunnel and Limehouse Link Tunnel, Canary Wharf yesterday and has been like this for a good while.
But, I was wondering for how long I have been ignoring it and if it has gone! _________________ Mick

On any particular model, Mick?
I think I saw it working on my Go940 only a few days ago. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

I find the software on my XL IQ and the iphone app quite often just ignores waypoints in itinerarys or when you add a 'Go Via' to an already planned route. TT's sugestion: reinstall the navcore. Hows that going to help sort out a bug in the software... |

I noticed this yesterday, I added a go via and it ignored it. I little flag appeared on the map where you would turn off for it but it didnt work out a route to it! |

I noticed this yesterday, I added a go via and it ignored it. I little flag appeared on the map where you would turn off for it but it didnt work out a route to it! | The usual circumstance where this occurs is if you use Travel Via ..., City/Town/Village, and has always been present in the PNDs.
If you use City/Address (or Point on Map), this anomaly can be overcome. _________________ Richard

Just to add, I definitely saw it working in the Hatfield tunnel yesterday (but that was on a 940 again) _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

Not too sure if this is the best place to post this reply, so Moderators, feel free to move it to a more suitable thread if necessary.
Your list mentions the possibility/probability of Google Search disappearing in the future. I noticed last week that the information given in Google Search has already begun to dwindle. I entered a Local Search criteria of "Take Away" and although Google Search did find numerous outlets, there was no information given, other than Name, address, phone number, star rating. Not much use not knowing what type of food was on offer! Obviously one can make a pretty good guess with a name like "Great Wall" but "MacIntyre's" tells me nothing!
Anyone else noticed this and care to comment? |
