I have had a GARMIN NUVI 1410 for about five months and and have travelled many miles on main roads and motorways and have yet to see the photo real activate.
the junction view is o.k but no photo real
GARMIN have confirmed that this model should automatically work at difficult junctions as it is embedded in the software.
i have updated the software as instructed by garmin but still no photo real.
please someone help
regards

There's no difference between the 2. Photo real is just a nicer looking junction view. It will show positions of blue signs, hills on side and trees etc. It's not an actual photo, but it is more life-like than the generic junction views that just show the names.
Examples here from my review of the 3790:
Not actual photo's but you can see how each one differs.

What map update are you running? Photoreal junctions were, I think, only included with the later map updates. If you've had yours 5 months you may not have any loaded.
In any case, I don't believe every junction is photoreal, just like the fact that junction view is not available on every junction. Garmin are increasing the numbers with every map update though, so the situation is slowly improving. |

my map is cn europe nt 2011.30
when i updated the map i asked garmin if this did have photo real and they said that it had.
i know it`s a gimmick but this is why i bought it as it was advertised in halfords as having this |

2011.30 didn't come with photoreal junction views, it's what I'm running on my 1490. Halfords/Garmin may have got it wrong, or they may have said it's capable of displaying photoreal junction views ... which it is with the later map upgrades that include the photoreal junctions. |

@ Wellheads...
I've edited out all your "self-quotes", for ease of reading
Also, as you've now started a second thread on the same topic, I'll lock this one.
