Got a replacement G930 and it has old maps on the device, Trying to update them but in TomTom home it seems to be stalling on the "Select the items to download & install on your navigation device" page. Been like this for 15 minutes now with just a spinning circle cursor after I clicked on update and install. Is this normal?
Also is there any advantage to putting them on an SD card? The device has 4GB internal memory. |

A 930 is supplied with both the Western_Europe AND North American map folders, if you want to keep both of these on the device then you have no option but to use an SD or SDHC card as the maps are too large to fit in the 4GB available in the device.
The Go-930 can support SDHC cards up to and including 32GB in capacity, you can also add an mp3 folder to the card and load up your music collection to have it playing music as well as navigating.
Have you got the latest Navcore installed to the device prior to trying to update the map? you should be running 8,351 on that device - Mike |

Not surprising if you're trying to put 730 maps onto a 930. _________________ Dennis

It's not giving me the option to download the north america maps. Two Western and Central Europe maps are showing up for download - the 865 one and the 855 one for some reason.
Also, the device says GO530 on the screen when connected to TTH, but TTH says it's a GO 930.
So I dont have a clue what's going on... |

Could you please present the complete picture.
I'm guessing that you persuaded someone to let you have a GO930 as a replacement for your father's GO730 and you registered the 930 with the same account as your father's 730. So now you are trying to download 730 maps onto a 930.
Am I close? _________________ Dennis

No, this is the replacement sent by TomTom for the GO 730
It's a PITA to be honest, came with old maps, 4 digit postcodes...
We prefer the above abbreviation, please - DennisN |

I realise TomTom are sometimes less than human, but don't they fall into the description?
I think you need to discuss the map situation with TomTom. _________________ Dennis

Multiple maps/ older maps being offered for download is usually caused by reuse of the e-mail address associated with a previous device, did you use a new e-mail address for this replacement device or one thats been used before on any other TomTom software?
To address the above problem you are probably best calling TomTom in the morning on 0845 161 0009.
As for postcodes the look up files and/ or the zip folder is missing from the device, have a look at This Thread for details on how to fix this issue (it doesn't involve TT Home so you won't have an issue resolving this part) - Mike |

Well my dad informs me a new email address was used for this one so who knows. Will have to call TomTom in the morning. The Navcore is up to date. |

First you have a 930
then it's a replacement for your dad's 730,
you registered it with the same email address
your dad had registered it with a new email address
Your dad registered it on his computer
and you're updating it on your computer
Or something.
At least, that seems a bit like what you are saying. Nobody can help or follow your problem if you hold back the correct full information. You might just as well be saying your dad got himself a 'new' one really cheap from a really nice bloke in The Miner's Arms in Warsaw, for all the help you are giving us. _________________ Dennis

Well I'm not trying to hold back on information at all.
This has all been done on my dad's computer.
He had a 730. It broke.
They have sent him one that says 530 on the TomTom screen but 930 in TomTom Home and has the Western & Central Europe and North America maps on it.
Now, when you connect it to TomTom Home, it lists the updates available as being the Western & Central 865 maps and the Western & Central 855 maps. No North America maps are shows for update.
The email address is a new one not previously used for a TomTom device (according to my dad).
And when I select the 865 maps it doesn't download it just stalls.
*edit* just checked - the current maps are Western and Central Europe v800.1767 |

AFAIK you only get a map update under LMG for the region in which the device was purchased/ supplied, in this case Western_Europe, you will not get an update for the NA maps without paying additional cash, this was the case when the device was launched to the public a few years ago so I very much doubt it will have changed.
If you can get the WE 865 installed along with the postcode files I linked to earlier you will have everything intended for the device - Mike |

ok thanks. I'm just puzzled why there are two versions available, and why it's just stalling when I try to download one. |

For issues of what maps are assigned to what accounts/machines, you're really better off talking to TomTom customer services direct.
We on the forum can only make educated guesses at what has happened. They have the tools in front of them to get it sorted out. |
