The slight downside is that deleting the old MapSettings.cfg file resets all your POI warnings, home location and voice preferences.
Another cause of constant re-booting is when Map Share is enabled and POI changes are applied although I have only seen posts about this fix pertaining to the 940 units though but I guess it could affect other units as well.
Maps not found, download the "Clear Flash" utility from the tomtom.com web site and run that at least three times.
As for the Traffic issue, what version of map have you got installed to the device? and look in the Western_Europe or UK&ROI map folder at the following two files, pay particular attention to the file sizes of:
traffic.dat
tmccodes.dat
Are they showing as 0Kb per chance? - Mike |
they ain't there at all Mike...F K why.
I'm going to install them from the backup & see what happens... _________________ Jaguar XF R Sport AWD

Install the two files I mentioned in the earlier post using Windows Explorer to the UK&ROI or Wester_Europe map folder then set up your Traffic data connection, without these two files Traffic won't work - Mike |

I ripped everything out of the TT again..did an install from the backup made today.

Hi Mike,
Map= 720.1803..
Navcore 8,302
here's the link for the original issue.
Putting this version of navcore in didn't solve the issue with bluetoothed handsfree but did give the TT a nice little stammer...especially when appproaching roundabouts etc...:-)

As you are running a v720 map I would be tempted to roll back to Navcore 8,010 which should work fine with the hardware and map with no stammering, there is little point going for th ev8,3xx Nacore builds with a v720 map as that map version doesn't contain IQ Routes-II data - Mike |

Here you go:
The Navcore 8,010 software is still available from the servers at TomTom:
For Go x20 devices click Here
For Go x30 devices click Here
As always backup the unit BEFORE trying any update/ roll back just in case it goes wrong, to use this software your maps must be version 810 or earlier, if you try running Navcore 8,010 with a version 815 map installed when the device boots up you will get the "No Maps Found" message on the screen.
To install this to your device I use WinRar which you can download from Here Switch the TomTom on and connect it to your PC, if TomTom Home starts up exit the application as Home isn't needed for this.
Double click the file :
navcore_8.010.9369.gox20 for Gox20
navcore_8.010.9369.gox30 for Gox30
Depending upon which one you downloaded and winrar will fire up, use the mouse to select all files and folders then click "Extract To"
Locate the drive letter associated with your TomTom and click it, make sure the Overwrite mode is selected to "Ask before overwrite", then press "OK"
When the dialogue box pops up saying "Confirm File Replace" click the "Yes To All" button.
Sit back and watch the progress bar, with a good USB2 connection a Navcore 8,010 installation will take around 2 minutes.
When its finished the update use the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon from the Task Tray and remove the lead from the device.
Let the device boot up and tap the sat strength meter (lower left) followed by the version box, the resultant screen will confirm the version installed is Navcore 8,010 - Mike |

Mike,
I don't pop on here as much as I used to/nor should.
What I will say is that the support & advice offered on here is still first rate & the site is a credit to all those involved!
Many Thanks
ATB

(I'll load the older version of Navcore on next week... I'll be doing over a 1,000 miles next week..so that shopuld be a good test for the current setup. I've had a run about today & all worked well..even with spoken street names activated.
One thing, I'm sure that someone at Tom Tom has a sense of humour..I've had the misfortune to have to travel to Dingleland today ..Burnley...except that Kate pronounces it "Burnleh"..as do us lot in civilisation!
