Does anyone know how long it takes for a Satnav TMC to locate a TMC transmitter / Channel. My impression was that satnavs with TMC functionality were reliable, transmitting traffic information all the time
My Navigon 40 Easy takes ages to transmitt traffic information or would not do so at all.
When I set out on a journey, I expect TMc to be in operation. However, this is not the case as the TMC icon is red most of the time.
Does this happen to all satnavs. |

Hi Buffdaddy. Only recently got back from holiday, so hadn't really spotted your post earlier. If you haven't sorted the problem out (or dumped the Navigon in a river), two possibilities I know of:
- TMC is a bit patchy - better in some areas than others (sometimes virtually non-existent). Have you used TMC in Essex (or wherever you were driving) before, and if so was it better? Try it round the M25 for instance.
- I assume metallised windscreens can still block the TMC signal on new models. If you've used TMC in your car before did you get reception OK then? possibly try it outside your car (parked!) or in someone else's. _________________ David

Big Perk,
Thanks for your response. TMC does work on this device.it just takes a while
I will stick with it especially as it comes with premium TMC at no extra cost.
