I have the same problem in my mini, three bars, then nothing, doesnt seem so bad on motorways but still not perfect. I tried it in my roadster and it works 100% fine (except tomtom seems to leave instructions to the last minute). I guess I have to wait for the new docking unit to be able to use it properly - so much for wireless.

just a note about PDAMODS and free congestion charge module ,
well i got my tomtom go from them next day at 07.30 that was good but
there is no congestion charge re routing on the tomtom go at all ,i have
e-mailed them and said i could not find any think on the tomtom go at all about congestion charge he replied and told me It is built into the software !!, so i made it do a route to the otherside of the congestion charge zone to bayswater road w2 3 from say southend it sent me down
victoria embankment smack in the middle of it to. and did not say about the congestion charge at all , so not all tomtom`s have The congestion charge module built in .

I will be sending this to TomTom but thought I would share with others to see if there were any other product enhancements out there other that the customisable POI’s that promised for later this year. Also if I have missed how to do any of these please let me know!

· Being able to put a permanent avoid on a particular road.

· Having the option to permanently sync the time with the satellites rather than having to do this each time.

· One touch button (hot key) on main display for capturing GPS position that can be saved later

· Congestion Charge warning with the ability to modify times

· Option to ask for shortest route (not just quickest)

Currently I am running TomTom Go 4.21

Those reflections….

I have now briefly experimented with the TT Go in three different cars with varying dashboard shapes and angles of windscreen to see how best to deal with the reflections off the shiny glass screen of the TT. I have managed to just about eliminate the problem (though of course I have not been able to test in all lighting conditions and with different height drivers) and driven with the TT showing a very clear picture. I have been in fairly bright direct sunshine. For me it seems best to set up the TT (with it off ) and with bright light coming through the front of the car (this seems to be the worst scenario) so objects eg seats, dashboard back of miiror , front passengers etc. in the front are brightly illuminated. Sitting in a normal position , adjust the angle of the TT so you only get the reflection from the inside roof of the car between the back of the driving mirror and the back window. As you are just reflecting light from the roof it should be uniform and not too bright. My roof is grey. You could set it so it reflects the light showing the back of the mirror then lower the angle by a couple of degrees.

To remove the suction pad it has been suggested prodding something into the “vacuum” space. I have found a whittled tapered lolly stick is ideal if sized accordingly to fit the gap in the rim and should not do any damage. Insert it a few seconds after releasing the leaver and the pad just falls off.

There may be a market for a third party piece of kit that replaces Go's removable cover with some sort of anti reflective film and a new cover? Would love to be able to invent myself but optics and electronics were never my specialist subjects

There are covers for some pdas that people have cut to fit the TT. They say it is a big improvement but of course you lose some brightness. I think they typically absorb 10% if the emitted light.

I would think if enough users of the TT Go contact the company about screen 'shields'then they might just bring out a fitting to shield the screen in bright sunlight.
I can't understand how this would be overloooked in the testing stage.
Unless we the user are the Guinea Pigs! Laughing

I’m not certain a shield would help much (even though I suggested a shroud back on page 10, before I had purchased a TT). I have tried shielding and the problem is light reflected off the glass directly towards the eye. Bright light on the screen is fine – it can still be seen clearly BUT the light must not be at an angle to the screen so it reflects directly into the eyes. I had full sun on the screen from behind and I could still see the map because I had the angle so as not to reflect into the eyes. I’ve just tried shining a very bright light onto the screen in the house and the map can be seen clearly if the angle is correct. When I tried this on a tv screen the picture is poor most probably because the tv screen is reflecting the bright light in all directions i.e. scattering it and light goes into the eyes from all angles.
