I'd say looking at the above image, the thing in the center is the base of the TomTom windscreen mount, so it would seem from what I can see in the picture, if people want an external antenna they buy the kit that replaces the base of the mount. You just unscrew this from the suction cup arm, and screw on the new one. |

Help.......
I'm a TT Go user cos I know nothing about GPS and only slightly more about computers.
I've emailed TomTom support cos I allowed Go's batteries to run down and can not now use the beast, still awaiting a reply.
I get the tom tom screen and one with a blue bar along the bottom which runs a yellow line.
I've tried resetting.
Any ideas on what I need to do to make the beast work again? |

Take out the sd card,
Put TT Go on charge,
Reset TT Go
Put sd card back in
Switch on. |

Dellboy, did all that and still the same yellow line running across the bottom of the screen. The unit has been charged for four hours now, hopefully it can't be overcharged.
Pity, it was working fine till this happened.
Thanks for your help. |

Does anybody know whether Go performs any better by using the 32x SD cards and if so would the extra performance justify the premium of these cards? |

Its so fast anyway a faster SD card would probably only make a tiny difference to GO. |

Sounds like it may need re-installing.
Connect to your pc, via the USB cable, then follow instruction on page 6 of the manual.
When you get to the setup page, make sure you "install the application".
Then try it. |

For anyone wanting to know about an external antenna, I heard it on good authority today that TomTom will be coming out with an external plug-in antenna (optional) for GO. I don't quite know where it's going to plug into, I'm told the back of the suction mount, but on my pre-production version all I have is a 5v power socket.
What do you guys have ? |
mine only has the power socket. |

In this I mean that if a camera is on the east bound carriageway, I don't seem to be notified when travelling west past it. Maybe this might just be a fluke, but I've driven the same stretch of road a few times and seem to not be notified in both directions.

wouldn't it be that the speedcam there only will make pictures at one side ?
in the netherlands we have sort of fake cams that look like they can flash both sides but thgey can't. you can see by the tilt what side they make pictures.
btw Dave, what kind of hardware is exactly being used and according to the GPL, the used code that's an extension to linux (note: this probably excludes the routting application) is available that you know of ?
I'd like to know a bit more on the hardware side, maybe someone willl one day write their own routing software, or make a proof of concept PDA or so. just for fun. |

The reason that the camera was not hightlighted is that detection is done based on the POI being on the route. In the case where it is located on the west bound carriageway of a dual carriageway it isnt on the route, and therefore not detected.
This is actually is a big problem as a lot of the cameras are not posiotioned with 100% accuracy. For example in some cases the camera has been recoreded when travelling on the the westbound for an east bound camera. Result is no camera detection. _________________ Mike Barrett |

|
|
Have just joined this site after lurking for a few days.
I ordered Tom Tom GO from Amazon last Tuesday afternoon and received it this morning by Royal Mail Parcel delivery. Hows that for service considering the weekend in between. What a user friendly gps unit. Had a Garmin 111 but sent it back about a month ago it must have been built on a Friday!!!!!
Back to TT GO have set it up ready for its first journey, which was so easy, and now I have to go play :D

Had GO for nearly a week now, still 'playing'; directions to the shops; work; places i know just to impress friends etc.
Removed from the in-car mounting this moring and hid under seat, returned after an hour, GO refused to power up?!?!?
Too hot??
Had to perform a reset before I could get anything working.
Is it prone to this? Without the case Im not going to risk putting it my bag and carrying about with me, and its inconvient too.
Anyone any ideas? |

I had a similar problem on my second day of using TTG. Was showing it off to a friend when it refused to power up having been switched off for a short time (about half hour) despite a full battery. All I could get was a blank blue screen and I was v worried that I'd bought a dud. However, everything worked OK after a reset and the same problem hasn't re-occurred.[/quote] |

TT Go as a working range of -10c to +55c.
+55c can easily be reached in a car with windows closed on a sunny day.
On days like these, TT go is small enough to carry with you, and not left in the car to fry. I put mine in a "Bum Bag" and don't have heat problems on the few sunny days we've had. |

Hi Guys,
I've just powered up my unit for the first time and driven around a little bit with it.
Not too happy with the units ability to 'lock on' to the sats here (East Sussex) - maybe it's my windscreen or something.
Outside the car the unit says 5 sats 'locked on'........... I get it inside the car and lock it in its cradle (sucker to front windscreen) and it is a bit shy 'locking on'.
Get on the move and it frequently 'greys out' then finds itself again to play the game. Lots of trees where the initial tests have taken place it has to be said - will that make such a difference?
Looks as if I will have to get one of those external sat aerials/amplifiers.
It's not a heated windscreen....... it has mositure sensor/light sensor..... but that should not be a stopper surely!
When it does get up steam, it is very impressive.
Is there any way you can lock the map view into a high 3-D all the time (as if flying above the road) and not the low-level ground plane view which is the main default?
The static plastic cover that protects the screen is splendid at preventing all those finger prints.
Looks likes lots of fun though..... and when I get on motorways/concrete jungles it will come into it's own.
Anybody else having sta 'lock on' troubles?
Cheers
