I might ask for the same IF my road is STILL wrong....
I've been updating for 5 years via MapShare & TeleAtlas.
Will find out in about 1/2 hour when my TT has finished updating. _________________ XL LIVE IQ Routes (Europe)

Just spoken to TT Support initially regarding the latest map guarantee (account was tied to my old & dead 520 & wouldn't download the map.
Anyway, long story short, I was given an update for the new v8.50 map for W&CE. I was then presented with 4 options (as mentioned in previous post) for Northern/Southern/Eastern/Western Europe. I asked the person on the phone why can't I download the whole map onto my 4gb SD card and she said that have an issue with the downloading of the whole map onto an SD card at the moment, but they are working to get it fixed.
Also, as I'm downloading the 'Western' part of the map, I've noticed in the TT Home Temp folder (windows explorer) that there are 4 separate downloads ( for the 4 options) and currently only one is downloading. I would guess that you will only download the map section you want, but if you change section, you would ave to download that section, before transferring to the device. Obviously, if you have downloaded all 4 sections, then it should be a quick change, but I guess you will be downloading around double the original map, as it appears that each country is covered twice in 2 different sections.
Cheers

Yes it does appear that each quarter is downloaded seperately. So if you are travelling across quarters you either need to download each quarter before you go or take a laptop and hope for fast WiFi somewhere on route...
Also is it me or there loads of extra colour on the maps? Green shading for trees etc? If so, what a waste of space.... |

That will be the extra detail (trees) that TT have added to take it over 2Gb.
Not impressed with this - the idea of having a device with a European Map on it is that it covers Europe - not just some of it and you have to take a laptop with you and change maps! |

This is absolutely idiotic: I run on my 720 both system and map off SD card. I'm using 8GB card (more than 5GB free). Stupid Home complains that I cannot fit whole map onto 8GB card, thus asking which part of Europe I want to install ... Why's that?
Regarding TomTom having issues coping W&CE maps onto CD card: what on earth is TomTom thinking? The company drives me nuts, can't they just allow those, who have sufficient free memory, to download one maps as single download (not 4 or 5 pieces as folks are reporting)? Or fix Home application so that it does not look how much free memory is on internal memory IF SD card is inserted?
Skipping map update until TomTom gets it act together. What is the point of having yearly map subscription when I cannot update maps? |

Has anyone downloaded the quarter maps? Is it like the old TT maps where you got one region complete then major routes in the others? _________________ Drivelux |

I assume you have gone into TT_Home, Device, Change Device and selected the card? I have not used this for a while but it used to work. _________________ Drivelux |

And another one. Can't go to work tomorrow as the house i need to visit doesn't exist. TomTom insists that the numbers start from 2. I need to go to number 1... |

I guess that the quarters/single map depends on the model of TT?
I tried reducing the available space on my 940's SD card, by duplicating some mp3s, but it only offered the single map.
Download about 50% complete - only another 3 hours to go! _________________ Jock

Yes, the card is selected. I suspect that Home's logic may be following: if internal memory is full (as it always is) then it means for Home that no free memory exists. Even if SD card with sufficient free memory exists and is active. Or there is one download option offered to anyone, which has 4 parts regardless of the device used. As some models don't have separate memory card slot, all others must suffer.

I have a 930 and moved the US maps to SD card. The new W&CE map (I wasn't offered quarters) is downloading to the internal memory. |

TS5, how much internal memory does your 720 have? Marvin, what about the 930? _________________ Jock

720 internal memory is 2GB. New, v850 map is larger than that. |
