My tomtom has all of a sudden gone haywire. I hadn't used it for several weeks and yesterday when I tried to use it it would not work, I assumed the battery was completly flat so have been charging it up for nearly 24 hours via my computer. Now after carrying out a reset, it switches on asks me to set the language etc until it reaches the voice option, I select the normal female voice and then the machine hangs then switches itself off then starts the same process again.
I have carried out the recommended reset, and tried to use the tomtom via my laptop but although it carries out a download check, when I try to operate it via the computer it says I am missing a download, when trying to carry out the download I get an error message telling me that an emulator is missing off my laptop. My laptop is running windows 7 home pemium if this makes any difference. When I look in 'my computer' it is showing the device but there is a red bar all along the bottom, just above where it tells me that 12.8 MB is free.
Can you give any further advice or is my tomtom dead. It is only two years old and was a retirment gift from my employees. |

Try running Home in Windows XP compatibility mode as Windows 7 is known to cause problems, if this doesn't work try using a Windows XP or Vista based computer - Mike |

If you have a shortcut to the program on your desktop, then right click on it---properties---compatibility tab---and put a checkmark in the box, selecting xp from the drop down window.
You may also want to check (on the same screen) run as administrator _________________ David |
