Hi again Andy,
I have tried again using the Video Guide but still can't do it.
If someone can help please it would be great, if not I will just abandon the whole project as it is really stressing me up now.
I HATE COMPUTERS !!!
Paula
PS. I had the same problem with my Drivesmart and that is in a box not being used. |

When the TomTom is plugged into a computer you can't use it....
My 740 shows a simalar screen when plugged in and can't be used either. |

In the 3rd picture, when I touch the screen it does nothing at all, so I cannot do anything.
Computers and modern toys are not really my bag as you can see.
I am based in Weybridge, Surrey so I would like some help please.
I make great cups of tea and enjoy good cake ....
Thanks for your support hun.

You can't operate it from the touch screen when it's connected to the PC. You need to launch TT home and choose the "operate my device" button or the small arrow at the bottom right to disconnect it. Then uplug from the PC or just turn the unit off and unplug it. when you turn it back on again it should boot up OK (this may take some time if you've added new things to it, but be patient) _________________ TomTom ONE Series 30 (v8) & TMC traffic

Well this whole TomTom rubbish is stressing me up totally.
Thanks for all your help guys but I can't fathom this at all.
I am throwing the thing in the bin, will stick to the speed limits ( which as a law abiding citizen one should ) and use good old fashioned maps.
This old stager loathes modern technology.
Nitey nite

Paula, Don't give up just yet - you are almost there. You have done the hard bit - Downloading and UnPacking the camera files.
When copying the speed camera files from my computer to my TomTom I use Windows Explorer, I never use TomTomHome for this. I close TomTomHome down as I find it just gets in the way.
If you are feeling confident, it may be easier if you open Windows Explorer twice, each using about half of your computer screen OR just "Click" between them as needed.
Put the first Windows Explorer to show the Speed Camera files on your Computer (the ones you have just downloaded and un-packed as per your photos). The other Windows Explorer screen is to show the FOLDERS on your TomTom. One of these folders shall be your map folder (Confusingly, it is NOT the folded called "MAP" but it is a folder called something like UK_and_ROI, or Western_and_Central_Europe, etc.)
Ok, go back to the first Widows Explorer. Highlight ALL and then copy ALL of the speed camera files from your computer. "Click" to the other Windows Explorer (TomTom) and paste them INTO the folder which your map is in. (It is possible to "Right Click" the map FOLDER and then "Paste" if this is easier)
That should be it.
When the files have been copied onto your TomTom do NOT just unplug your TomTom. Use the "DISCONNECT" button to safely remove it. This can be found by clicking the little arrow near to the "time/clock" at the bottom-right-hand on your Computer screen and hovering over the icons which are exposed, OR, turn your Computer off the normal way and TomTom shall disconnect safely like this.
Good luck.
By the way, I love cake with my tea but Spain is just a wee bit too far for a Saturday morning ride out on my bike. Sorry.
EDITED to include the safely disconnect TT from PC info. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

Hiya,
Thank you so much for your reply.
My problem is that I am not PC savvy and I can do basics only.
Can I come over to Spain with my computer ....
Seriously though unless some member can very kindly come over to my home and help me, then I will have to simply stick to Tom Tom's data ( after a night's sleep, I have decided not to bin it now !!!! ).
I have now re-enabled it.
Surely TomTom's speed camera database must be just as good as PGPSW's?
I can call them and and pay for updates surely.

C'mon you guys and gals in Surry, one of you must be able to help her. |
