Been using on iphone for a few weeks and whilst its generally great cannot rely on getting camera warnings.
I have been using tomtom for several years but much prefer iphone if only it could be relied on.

In my local town only one out of 5 cameras gives warnings.

None of the following give audio or visual warning(red banner)
pMOBILE:68467@30
pMOBILE:77627
MOBILE:6792p
pMOBILE:79634

This one has audio and visual warning
MOBILE:6784

All camera alerts are set to on.

Also not alerting to a few cameras on my journies out of my local area.

I note others have posted similar problems. This is spoiling a brilliant app.

Assuming this is CamerAlert (we have a CamerAlert forum) then do these cameras appear on the map when you approach them?

I've edited your post to clarify that most of the cameras you have issue with are pMobiles. Have you enabled the alert for pMobiles? in Settings --> Sound Warnings?

I've just edited my reply, can you answer if you have pMobiles set up for alerts AND if they appear on the map as you pass them?

The cameras do appear on the map and all alerts are turned.

I've only just started using CamerAlert and discovered I hadn't switched on warnings for "Pending". Have you?

Yup.

Edit Sorry, that's too blunt. PMobiles are unconfirmed - nobody has reported seeing them actually in action for many months. If you don't have pending switched on you won't get any warnings for pMobiles.

if the icons are greyscale as opposed to colour then they are pending cameras regardless of how new/old they are!

I think that when we hear the result of....

we shall be faced with the question of what to do about a thread title (Camera warnings not reliable) which is misleading to say the least - for future surfers, I don't think it should be left entirely like that (nor indeed the unsubstantiated comment that "I note others have posted similar problems. This is spoiling a brilliant app."), when rembrandt confirms that the warnings actually are reliable if only the user sets up his App correctly. Confused

Well, it's gone tomorrow now. What's the test result please?

I don't have access to CamerAlert as I don't have an Iphone but from reading the above comments would it be better if the application defaulted to having all warnings, including pmobiles, switched on when first installed? Users could still switch them off if they wished.
