|
|
I have had the Cameralert for several days now and it keeps crashing. It seems to work for the journey to work but on my return all it does when I press app is bring up the Cameralert screen then crash back to the iphone home screen. I then reinstall app from laptop and it works again - only to crash the next time I use it on a return journey.
Any solutions? |

can you install an app called 'memory info' and see how much free memory you have?
if it works in the morning but not later in the day it could simply be that mail, sms, ipod and safari are all still running after a full day's work and eating up all the memory.
yes, i know apple don;t allow multitasking, but these apps DO run in the background.

ok, just had a look and the memory app i suggested is no longer free... it's 59p here: MemoryInfo Lite
there is this one that is free though BUT it won't free your memory: A+ iSystemInfoFree

Looks like you can't free memory with the former either

As above, we need to know what free memory you have and what free space you have as well?
When the issue arises, have you tried rebooting the phone? _________________ Darren Griffin |

hmm... missed that... well, i'll certainly make sure i don't delete that app then! it's very useful and does the equivalent of rebooting the iphone albeit in about 5 seconds rather than the 3 or 4 minutes a reboot takes...
but still, free memory (NOT storage space) is a major issue with all apps and apple's background services can take a huge chunk of these. pre 3.0 you could hold down the home key to force close safari, mail or ipod but since 3.0 this no longer works - presumably because this long press is how you use the voice activation in the 3gs.
the less cynical part of me slightly hopes this forced removal of memory freeing apps is to make way for os4.0 with perhaps some background services available to app developers - if so then the existing memory freeing apps could cause issues... lack of memory will cause even more issues though... |

Ok, next thing is to remove the app and re-install. We have had only a few reports of crashes and a reboot always resolves the issue. I'm using a 3GS here and it is working - no crashes.
What software version is the iPhone? _________________ Darren Griffin |

i'm on 3.1.3 (non jailbroken 3G) and it runs fine here. the only time i've had a crash was when i was doing a voice recording and a photo which completely killed the memory... |
