Assuming you've signed the application and have installed Python, make sure you install them both on the phone as they won't work from the memory card.
Then, once you've run the application there should be a Speedcam folder created on either your memory card or phone. Download the Pocket GPS Speedcam database, rename it speedcam.txt and upload it to that directory. |

Thanks AMWebby,
Application now loads up. I have loaded the PGPS database (i think) so are you able to tell me how to get Nokia Maps and speedcam working together as it seems to be either one or the other?? |

You set Maps to load when Speedcam does in the Speedc am Perferences dialogue. First make sure the maps name is set to Maps, then choose "yes" for start Nokia Maps.
It doesn't seem to run as an overlay as it used to though. |

It works great. I have uploaded my own sound files for mobile and fixed camera warnings and set it to only alert me if I'm over the limit of an approaching camera. Great stuff. |

Assuming you have the speed camera database loaded correctly, it's probably set to only give you a warning if you are over the limit.
You can see this on the main screen, where it says All or Over on the bottom left of the screen.
Press the # key to toggle between:
Over (only alerted if speed is over camera speed limit)
o All (alerted whatever your speed) |

Hello AMWebby, thank you for your help here,
I am currently indoors with no signal and have a white screen with 'Speed' in top left corner, circle with black dot in middle, 'n/a' north of black dot, bottom right hand corner shows 'no signal' and 'fixed' and bottom right hand corner shows 'over'.
pressing the # key as suggested doesn't seem to do anything and looking at the other instructions on the speedcam guide the only things that work are my navigation key (left, right, up, down)
How do i tell if I have loaded the database correctly? |

You download the database file for Speedcam, rename it speedcam.txt and upload it to the speedcam folder Speedcam has created on your memory card.
From memory Speedcam won't start up without this file so I'm assuming you've completed this step successfully.
Your screen shows that Speedcam is set to give an alert only if you are over the speed limit for any given camera.
Remember on the E71 you must press the Function key in the lower left corner of the keyboard before pressing the # key, otherwise you're pressing the J key.
This should toggle Speedcam into All mode, where you will receive a camera warning regardless of your speed. |

Assuming Speedcam is set to "All" and you've downloaded the "Nokia Speedcam" file from PocketGPSWorld, unzipped it and renamed the file called pocketgps_uk_master_and_pmobile.txt to speedcam.txt and uploaded that to the speedcam directory on your memory card all should work just fine.Currently Speedcam shows it has loaded 11272 speed camera records on start up. You should also make sure your E71 is set to use Assisted and Integrated GPS.
The only possibilities remaining is that the camera you are passing isn't on the database, which seems unlikely or that you haven't got a clear signal for GPS in your car. I have found my E71 works fine in my top pocket or in an open compartment in the central console of my car but does not work elsewhere. I have double glazed infrared glass on my car which blocks many GPS receiver, including TomTom, but the E71 works fine in these positions, not at all in any other, i.e in a side pocket of my jacket. |

Thanks AMWebby,
I have a Brodit mount for the E71 and Nokia maps works just fine and also the speedcam loads up and shows the mph.
I have deleted and re-installed the current database to the Speedcam folder on my memory card (also contains scLang txt document, correct?)and checked to see what 'live' cameras are in my area (2 mobile sites nearby.)
Later on I will try to go past these camera sites to see what happens.
What other settings should I be aware of:
Proximity
Range/mph
etc.
It would be great to get this working and I guess I am doing something wrong here.
Thanks AMWebby for your help so far. |
