You will have to wait and see as anyone testing this is under NDA so we cannot dislose functions or capability of the application, I am sure once its available via the App store you will see it mentioned on the forum and web site home page - Mike |

once it is submitted to the appstore then i'm sure we will officially be announcing the feature set and pricing etc etc. it usually takes about 2 weeks to get through the appstore process though - it's not been submitted yet so you may as well stop for a couple of weeks again ;)

Like everyone I have been waiting for this app to be released for ages, but with the app not even been submitted to the app store yet and OS 4.0 probably being released next week, they will probably have to hold off releasing again to make it compatible with 4.0 like they did with 3.0. Instead I'm using "Autovelox Plus", it is available now and is compatible with the Pocket GPS world database. A small mod is needed to the csv file to show the correct speed in mph, but it is a good stop gap if you want to use this dbase while waiting for the PGPSW app to get released on the iphone. |

Could you explain how to add the Pocket GPS world database to Autovelox Plus", and how to mod the csv file to show the correct speed in mph please.
I cant seem to find any info.
Thanks |

sounds like the status of this app :-).
Also have you guys done a google search for cameralert? I am just bringing it up because on the first page of this thread the picture indicates this app might have the same name as the first google result and you don't want to get into litigation with Americans. It's probably fine, but just thought I would let you know.
This is for you gazabb,
Righto here goes, I hope you can follow this description. The method of actually installing the files is on the webpage and I think it also comes with the app, although I can't remember exactly. Firstly you need to download the following GPSPW speed can database;
Garmin POILoader [UK - Consolidated By Type (Gatso,Mobile,etc)]
Now this app is Italian, so it is setup to read km/h, so it thinks that the database is in km/h, so when you change the app to display mph it converts the data in the database from km/h to mph, ie, 70 becomes 43 ish etc. So what you need to do is search and replace the 30, 40, 50, 60 and 70 with the km/h equivalent (+1), (30 = 49, 40 = 65, 50 = 81, 60 = 97, 70 = 113). This is the hard bit which only takes about 2 mins. Once you have done this for each file, you can add the files one at a time into the application as described in the documentation with the app.
To load into the application, you do this by connecting your PC and iphone to the same wireless network. Once you have done this, then open the application and click on the Import POIs button on the main screen. Then click the SHARE button and it should bring up the IP address and port to connect to. Now you go to your PC and type in this address into your pc web-browser and you should get the interface screen where you can search for your edited databases to load to your phone.
Once you have added all 3 files (GATSO, REDLIGHT, MOBILE) then you can go to the settings section in the app and then select the POI Lists that you have just added. You also need to tick in the main settings page, that you want to use "Fixed Cam", "Mobile Cam" and "Redlight Cam".
To test if the dbase has loaded properly, start the app and get a GPS signal. This is important as if there is no GPS signal the cameras won't show on the map. If once you have a signal and you go to map view you should see lots of speed cam signs on the Map view in the app, if not then something has gone wrong :-).
I have informed them about the conversion bug, and they are releasing version 2.0 soon which might fix it. If you get stuck anywhere just let me know. |
