I don't have a link, but BBC news this morning state that an extra £15 is being added to smaller fines/penalties.
This is supposedly to go to help victims of crimes.
This 'extra' £15 is already levied for criminal offences, but is being extended to cover Speed Fines and parking tickets.
Another good reason to get hte PGPSW database - if one was needed!! _________________ Triumph Tbird 1700. And now a Bonnie T100. |

Another wholly undisguised levy on motorists. The BBC link is here.
Why should motorists be taxed to fund victim compensation schemes?
And why is a parking offence considered sufficiently heinous that it would fall foul of this plan anyway?
Yet again motorists are seen as easy targets, surely we've all had enough of this now? _________________ Darren Griffin |

If this extra money were to go directly to the area it has been asked for then I might go along with the idea, sadly the idiots considering bringing this in will use it for all sorts of other things, stealth tax is about the only way to describe it.
Bring back Guy Fawkes, he had the right idea blow the whole lot of em up in one go, no more expense claims and no more stupid ideas or ways to fleece the motorist, and that applies to any MP irrespective of party, IMHO the whole lot can pack up and go home (my personal view and nothing to do with this site) - Mike |

Why? Victim support isn't about road deaths or injuries specifically so why tax motorists to support it?
Why not fine the idiots who get stuck on mountains in tracksuits and trainers and have to be airlifted off? Why not fine the twerps who dial 999 because they have a headache or their cat is driving them mad?
Road Tax doesn't go to maintaining roads and this is another tax on motorists because they are easy targets rather than raising revenue from those that cause the issues directly _________________ Darren Griffin |

Or why not increase government funding properly and honestly, and general taxes if necessary, rather than cutting central funding and disguising the issue? We'll be paying for Legal Aid funding next!
Of course, I know the answer really - Gordy has always taken an unhealthy adolescent delight in hiding nasty things in Budget appendices instead of announcing them in the Speech and 'avin a larf' over the consternation caused when they are found, and he still seems to keep a tight rein on poor Alastair D. _________________ David
