I actually did screenshots of my sequence above, but two minutes ago deleted them because I couldn't be bothered! Sorry Andy, I'll give it another go later today after I've fixed daughter in law's printer. Trouble is, it's such a long-winded process to go through the download failures and reset/rebooting.
It is sooooo annoying that they don't seem capable of recognising that there's an intermittent fault. It's almost as if the RAM gets full after a couple of searches and won't work until it gets cleared (only it's obviously not the RAM, it's something in the search thingy). Plus it's a comparatively recent fault which didn't exist until after you and I (and maybe a few others!) started hitting it for regular searches so we're overloading something. Maybe it's like the MapShare corrections thingy which said you've done too many because they had a binary or octal or hex thingy (whatever they are) somewhere. Maybe the limit is in their server and it falls over when it hits the limit, resets itself every now and again and we get problems during the time it isn't yet resetting itself?. I bought 12 months Live Service 13 days ago specifically because of the Google Search.
Edited to add the coloured stuff, sorry. _________________ Dennis

Just out of interest; is there anybody who is NOT having problems with Google Search. I cannot rely on it because most of the time it just doesn't work. In my job it would be brilliant if I could access a company via Google search instead of relying on a given postcode which can cover quite a large area, particularly in some of the out-of-town industrial estates. |

It's intermittent. I'd say I'm currently having a 50/50 success rate with it. Worked fine the last time I tried it (yesterday), but I was having no luck in the days before that. |

No wireless data connection right now - for the last ten minutes or so - including hard reset, nothing. _________________ Dennis

Something else I noticed this morning for the first time, all services apart from Google Search were working, and then a popup appeared stating "battery too low". I know this was mentioned before as a possibility, but discounted. Time for a rethink? |

2 out of 3 searches working today - no reboots or anything in between, the first 2 searches worked okay and half an hour later on a 3rd search the dreaded red screen of death......
AND
all of a sudden I have an error saying that my subscription has expired for the TT mobile cameras (don't ask, they are only on there whilst trying to troubleshoot the Google error). HD Traffic and Weather working fine.
Looks like TT have a problem with their servers again. |

Well, I've now tried everything to get mine to work. Made sure battery is fully charged, ensured GPS signal is strong, getting red screen, waited 20 minutes then retried, still getting the red screen. Mine has now NOT connected to Google Search for three whole days! I've tried it at all times of day/evening over the 3 days. All services are still valid till January 4th 2010. So problem MUST be with TomTom somewhere, and if they can't identify and solve, why should I pay for another year's worth of part-time services? |

I did the following...
1. Switch off.
2. Press and hold power switch until it goes past the startup (splash) screen and goes to a green screen, then reboots with drum roll. WAIT until it shows traffic incidents to prove Live is running.
My search which failed at 10:00am, then (after doing the above) worked twice (10:15am and 11:55am) and has now twice (12:15pm and 12:19pm) come up with red screen of death, was..
Search In City...
London
Search for SW15 2NG (note, space in that postcode) _________________ Dennis

I've just tried what Dennis suggested, switching off and then doing the 15 seconds type reset, and it worked! Wow! switched it off and then on again, retried and it's still working, so now I've switched it off and will try again in about half an hour's time. If it fails I'll try the whole process again to see if this could be the temporary fix we are looking for. |

Yeah, waited the half hour, tried it and it was still working. waited another half hour, tried it and NO GO! Tried the reset from off and this time I've got the dreaded red screen; so it really does appear to be totally random. |
