pocketgpsworld.comYesterday the latest iPhone navigation app to hit the Apple App Store was Magellan RoadMate US and Canada. This is a full featured Turn by Turn application, including advanced features such as text to speech, lane assist, and roadsigns. With mapping provided by Navteq it also supports a Pedestrian Mode and 3D landmarks. It also has in-app iPod controls. At an introductory price of $79.99 it is cheaper than Navigon and TomTom's apps.

A second item on the same Press Release mentions a Premium Car Kit. This is an Active cradle for the iPhone with its own GPS receiver, internal amplifier and bluetooth hands-free. This is an adjustable design to allow the iPhone to be used with skins and cases in place. It is also compatible with the iPhone classic and iPod Touch enabling these devices to be used for navigation. At $129.99 it is slightly more expensive than the TomTom cradle ($119) and is expected to be shipping in December.

The initial mapping offered through the Apple AppStore includes USA, Canada and Puerto rico. In the future Western US, Eastern US and Europe will also be available.

The Magellan Press Release follows:

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (November 17, 2009)  Magellan, one of the leading GPS brands, today announced its Magellan RoadMate® turn-by-turn navigation app is now available from the App Store. Magellan also announced the introduction of a new innovative vehicle mounting cradle for the iPhone and iPod touch devices that will be available in December. The Premium Car Kit offers charging capabilities and provides an elegant car mounting and charging solution for the iPhone device. The cradle adds a GPS receiver for improved navigation accuracy, an amplified speaker for crystal clear directions and enhanced phone call clarity, and Bluetooth® to enable hands-free calling.

"The Magellan RoadMate App provides users instant access to Magellan's innovative, easy-to-use OneTouch(TM) interface, including: vehicle and pedestrian routing, in-app music control, native address book integration and turn-by-turn guidance including Text-to-Speech, all in one integrated and unique navigation experience," said Peggy Fong, chief operating officer for Magellan.

• In-App Music Control: Users can control their music directly from the application so they never have to leave the app to access their music.

• Native Address/Contact Book: With the touch of a button, users can simply navigate to destinations from stored addresses in the device's address book.

It would be nice to add this solution to your iPhone Navigation App Comparison Chart page.

No sorry i don't have this app.
I would like to buy a good app which is perfect to me, but for the moment i wait a possible professional voice search & command inside an app like Magellan.
When you have to go somewhere as fast as possible, it's preferable to have a way to search without hands.
