I just got a TomTom Go and I was wondering if the maps from TomTom Navigator (for Palm Top) could be used for the TomTom Go. As far as it looks I can copy the maps to the SD card, so shouldn't it just work? |

I have the maps box in front of me. I bought it only last week and it says nothing about GO. However, we know that the GO engine is the same as TomTom Navigator for Palm T3 (Which I use with these maps) and so there is a chance that the format is the same. try copying the maps to a SD card using the CD map installer.
Indeed I see that you get Major roads of Europe on CD when you buy TomTom GO so I reckon you are in with a high chance of success.
Let us know how you get on

If that works, then maybe the maps already on Go could be used with TT3 as they are more up to date. |

interesting, but are these not locked into the device they are first put on?.
I dont know the full bit, but i think if you put maps on a SD card and try it in GO unless they are the original ones from the CD it wont have it, same as trying to put it on your ipaq etc. But you never know, ....are you willing to try? Go on, no guts, no glory!!. |

Ok I just copied a Navigator map to the SD card on the TomTom Go. But the TTGO comes with "No map found".
So the navigator maps won't go on the TTGO. We have to wait for new maps or a conversion prg.

Guys,
The maps all share the same format for TT3, TT4Palm anf TTGO. What differs is the activation.
As the TomTom GO and European TT 4 Palm maps are supplied on SD Card and these SD cards have a unique serial number they are pre-activated, as such they shiuld work in any of the 3 Navigator products.
Any maps supplied on CD are not locked to a particular device and therefore require activation to the device you are using it in.
Confused? It took a while for me to get to the bottom of the map activation bits. Bottom line is: If you get a map on a SD card, dont delete it as it will be activated for that card only. _________________ Mike Barrett |
