|
|
Hi
I have just installed CP8 on my new Touch Pro 2 phone.
CP can't find the built in GPS.
I know the GPS is o.k. as Google maps will use it with out a problem.
I seems that the programme needs to request the data from windows and then windows will switch the GPS on.
I have tried the automatic setup and most of the options in CP's manual connection setup page with no luck.
Has anyone managed to get this to work? |

I don't know how different it is but I have got it working with my HTC TYTN2 running WM6.1.

Make sure you have no other GPS related applications still running when you launch CoPilot otherwise it won't find the busy GPS port on the phone as the other application will be hogging it. If you are unsure how to stop the other applications such as Goggle maps simply soft reset the phone with the stylus in the reset hole, when the device re-boots launch CoPilot - Mike |

Thanks for the replies.
I have tried Mike's suggestion with no luck.
I have spoken to HTC's help line and they told me that the GPS is on COM 4 at 9600 bund.
Tried this in the manual settings and get "GPS Setup failed"
I have e-mailed both HTC and CoPilot to ask them what the problem may be.
No replies from them yet. |

Did you have a trial version of CoPilot 7 installed when you got it? If so, I have read on the ALK website that you cannot use 8 on HTC Touch Pro 2 just yet.
I was planning to upgrade but I am waiting until they have solved this problem.
Hope this helps. _________________ Best wishes

Hi Tina
I am confused now.
The compatibility page of the ALK site has the Touch Pro 2 as being compatible and hammeri got CP8 to work on his.
Could you post a link to the ALK page that you found?
I did not have the trial CP7 on the phone.
I did not find the offer before I had brought CP8. |

I have a problem. I have password lock set up on my phone (HTC Touch Pro 2) at 5 mins. When Copilot is running I expect the screen to stay unlocked as copilot is in use and you cannot be expeted to enter your pin every 5 mins while driving but it still locks out at 5mins. This definitely didnt happen when I used Copilot 6 on my previous phones (Charmer or TyTN 2). Anyone with a solution to this problem? |

Posting a practically identical post to three threads is not good form, mate. Could be construed as spam in some places.
Anyhow, assuming you're using it in the car, with an external power cable attached, have you checked your external power options? On battery power, sure, leave the settings as five minutes to power-down to save the battery life, but what I do is, on external power, I leave it at power-ON.
The image below should clarify what I mean.

lombardo8 - Welcome to the Forum.
I have removed the other 2 posts as someone has started to answer your query here. However for future reference we'd appreciate it if questions are just asked once. Multiple posting lead to multiple answers and duplication of information.
For a specific problem it's worth starting your own thread if necessary. |

Hi Clivegrounds
I found the comment I was referring to at
http://guide.copilotlive.net/doku.php#technical_support
and it said
Uninstalling Previous Versions of CoPilot Live
Before you install CoPilot Live v8 you must first remove the previous version of CoPilot from your mobile device.
■Please note: if CoPilot Live 7 was pre-installed on your phone, for example O2 Xda Orbit 2, CoPilot Live 7 software will be restored if you ever hard reset your phone.
■Important: HTC Touch Diamond 2 and HTC TouchPro 2 Unfortunately CoPilot Live v8 cannot currently be installed on those Touch Diamond 2 or Touch Pro 2 phones which were supplied with a factory-installed trial version of CoPilot Live 7.
Hope this helps _________________ Best wishes

Thanks for the link.
CP7 is not on my Touch Pro 2.
CP8 installs and runs o.k., it just can't find a GPS.
Still waiting for a response from ALK and HTC |

Phoned HTC and they said the only way to sort it was to do a hard re-set.
Done that.
CP8 now working with GPS.
All I need to do now is reinstall the other programmes I had on the TP2 |
